    i've played with "proper" time controls before.

    trust me, if it's not a ~proper~ tournament of something it's a waste of bloody time, because it can take ages.

    I wish handicaps were available for one off games. In some of the tournies there a better player will be missing pieces+time based on how much higher their ranking is.
