I nearly left him alone, but in the end it's called the Makelele role with good reason. GK: RB: CB: CB: LB: CM: Xavi CM: Kaka CM: Makelele LF: Ronaldinho ST: Ronaldo RF:
Given my other midfielders, I needed someone of his class there. It wouldn't be too hard to convince me that a couple of similar players who are still available were better than him though.
Definitely works really nicely in your team. Trying to decide if I can afford to have someone with a bit more creativity than Makelele to sit back and play from deep or whether I need more of an enforcer to play at the back giving the attacking nature of Platini. I don't really know enough about Platini's defensive abilities to be confident with the latter.
GK: LB: Facchetti CB: Adams RB: HB: HB: Laudrup IL: Puskas IR: Socrates LW: CF: RW: W-M formation. Not sure it's technically correct but am assuming the old-fashioned halfback positions are analogous to the modern central/holding midfield positions with the inside forward positions analogous to modern attacking midfield positions.
Decided I need at least one Wolves player in my side, regardless of whether he's the best pick or not. Still not a bad pick anyway.
???? ???? - Gentile - Scirea - ???? ???? - Matthaus Jairzinho - Guillit - Best ???? Sorting out half my back four with one of the greatest CB partnerships ever. Ok then
Romario ??? - Zico - Matthews Platini - ??? Santos - Santamaria - ??? - ??? ??? Really happy with how my team is looking so far. Key spot is definitely going to be filling the other midfield position.
I kinda expect to get counterdrafted now. Plus I need a formation. Probably going a 3-2-5 or something else 1950s appropriate.
GK-Banks LB- CB-Wright CB- RB-Carlos Alberto LM- CM- CM- RM- CF-Eusebio CF-Nordahl With Edwards somewhere in midfield, doesn't matter where. It'll probably change as I go on but balancing 2 CFs is gonna be tough for a realistic side positionwise.
Ah bollocks. I'd forgotten you'd taken Carlos Alberto. Thought I might be able to snaffle him in the next round.
Think I'm quite lucky in the sense there's an abundance of top quality keepers and strikers left so filling those gaps will be relatively straightforward and I can be so flexible with who I pick in midfield as it's entirely dependent on where I play Guillit. Matthaus is one of the most complete B2B midfielders ever too so he'll compliment whoever I pick. Leaving both fullbacks to be picked is a minor worry but one I'm happy with as if I absolutely need to I can move Gentile across. Although that would somewhat undermine the fact I basically picked them as a pairing.
