Power forwards are those who use their strength to mark the ball, guys like Franklin, Riewoldt, Cloke, etc aren't power forwards, they're leading forwards. They get their ball leading towards it, power forwards get it put on their head and go for it 1 on 1 with the FB.

It's pretty contentious and not well defined right now though, but midfielders were just midfielders until a couple of years ago, now you're inside, outside or all-round.

Nick Riewoldt is pretty fucking big.

Cloke isn't a power forward? He was ragdolling cunts on the weekend.

    This.

Cloke is the fucking prototype for a power forward.

    Dunstall is the prototype.

Power forwards are the key forwards whose game is based on brute strength and power, in short. They're normally bigger, especially through the core and arms and less mobile. Very much ply their trade through out-muscling opponents and ripping through packs.

The other key forwards are all just the bigger blokes who have skills in other areas - Franklin has athleticism and speed which allows him to play as almost a small forward in some cases while being deadly on a lead. Jacky Riewoldt has a great footy brain and mobility, Tex Walker has gamesense and mobility as well as x-factor etc.

The best power forwards are great at both - which is why they're so valuable. When you're a midfielder you can get tagged, but with so much opportunity, so much field of play and help from the other mids, shaking a tag has become pretty easy tbh.

Getting ganged as a key forward is difficult to beat, the best can do both well enough so they aren't one dimensional. I guess you could say all the best forwards can do both well enough that they shouldn't be classified as a power forward or lead-up forward or whatever, but it depends on how specific you want to get. You could label all the mids in the comp one way or another, but is it worthwhile?

Yeah I was really shocked when you didn't have Cloke as a power forward.

Daw is just a beast forward

Power forwards that are better than Schulz, revised list. Cloke, Hawkins, Tippett, Walker if you classify him as one, maybe Petrie

I was talking about KPFs in regards to Schulz at the start, just used the wrong word

    Maybe Petrie?

    ...maybe !!!

Brown, Cloke, Roughead (if you could call him it), Hawkins, Petrie, Tippett. Could make a case for Waite, Kennedy and Clark too.

Schulz isn't really a power forward.
