Probably the most underrated player on here. People get so excited over impact and x-factor players yet hate him.

His ball use is sublime. His ability to lift when needed - unrivaled. Ability to break the lines - unmatched.

Right now he's not elite as he's nearly 34 which is well over the hill in AFL terms. In his prime he was unstoppable.

 

Victorians seem to hate Goodes. Probably because he's not Victorian.

He'll be the player I'll be thankful to have watched. Ablett, Bartel, Cooney, Pendlebury, Selwood - great players.

Goodes - a class above. Not because he's better than the aforementioned - but the element he's brought to the game is so unique, so different. I doubt I'll ever see a player like him again. Genuine elite and classy midfielders do come every so often like Ablett. Players like Goodes do not.
