Not the best reffing display IMO - in terms of interpretations, but he's been pretty upfront with both sets of players around infringing, so no surprises that there's been a yellow. Bit of a shame, really, if it comes down to that as these are the two best teams in the ITM Cup by some distance.

I also feel he has been a bit whistle happy.

Man sent off for no good reason. Cantabs with a 5 metre scrum down by 6.

Yeah. Ref's ruined this game as a spectacle, and I'm not just saying that as a Wellingtonian.

Held up over the line. Another 5 metre.

Held up again another 5 metre

Wellington win. Terrific goal line defence. Didn't understand the final ruling by the ref to end the game. But oh well. Something about not thrown in straight followed by a knock on?

Solid display by Brad Shields and he was an asset to wellington but did not shine. He may be some ways away from being an AB. Vito on the other hand possibly was the difference between both teams.
    Line out wins - check
    Line breaks - check
Controlling the ball off the back of the scrum - check
    Defence - check

Was at the game tonight. Ref was fucking shit. Less whistle more game IMO.

Bloody tense at the end there but glad Wellington held on with 14 men and won it. Good to see/ hear the semi pitiful crowd getting into it, I've nearly lost my voice.

Seriously reckon it's our year. If we get past Auckland we should be home, then again finals footy is another story.

On another note - Wellington have secured a semi finals spot with 3 games to go. I guess that was a given though.

Wellington has been epic so far this season from the few games I have seen.

But they'll choke in the final like they do oh so often.

Canterbury are idiots. Their number 14 injured himself during the try celebration and started rolling around on the ground. And then he got up and ran around like a spring chicken 2 minutes later.

Maybe he got a bit of grass in his one eye.

EDIT: Given he's playing for Canterbury though, he's probably not Cantabrian and so might not be ocularly challenged.

EDIT 2: #14 was Patrick Osbourne... From Suva, Fiji.

    That was a raping!

Wellington look out, we will dominate you in the final!

If Wellington maintain 1st it diminishes Cunterbury's chances.

Wellington: Home semi vs Counties (likely) > Canterbury: Possible home semi but vs Auckland

And Welly with a home final. Oh and the possibility of Jane playing.

I don't know who I am more flabbergasted by. Cantabs for being dicks and running up the score board to win by 60 points. Or Manawatu for not decking someone in red and black for embarrassing them. In ice hockey if you run up the score the losing team sends a goon on to the ice and deals out some justice.

KiriKiri earned my respect by doing a no arms tackle late in the game but it wasn't enough Manawatu,

Seriously? Why, in a competition where points differential is an important aspect of separating tied teams, should they coast when they get a lead? It's in their best interests to give other teams a hiding.

It's like saying cricket teams in a dominant position in a game shouldn't worry about net run-rate.
