  1. Scottie NG Scott

Been out of the country for the year so don't know anything about anyone except Boyd, really.

Thoughts on Bontempelli, Fuller and Honeychurch, if anyone knows anything?

Pretty happy with our 3 pick-ups. All play forward/mid which is a nice change.

Sam Lloyd looks dark so here's hoping his tainted blood will make him a good small forward.

Skippos and Tiger, if he was here, could provide more, but Bontempelli is a tall mid who looks really classy with the ball in hand. Looks like a good user and decision maker and moves well - has been compared to Pendlebury. Not sure how close that is though - I've seen him play once on TV haha.

No idea on the others - but I heard Honeychurch is pretty good value.

    8.5/10

Bontempelli was projected to be 8-15 all year and on current ability he's certainly that. Don't expect him to play much next year and really only ease in in 2015. Tall and thin for now - 194cm I think and plays like a genuine midfielder. He's quick and nimble but doesn't have explosiveness; never expect him to break out of a pack. The only time we'll see him running with ball in hand is if it's fed to him from the inside while he's full blown running through as he'll be caught quickly due to lacklustre acceleration. That said his agility is marvellous so he could use that in one on one situations. See: Jackson MacRae/Brad Crouch. His best work, however - will be done from one step situations. He's the best 'first touch' in the pool. If he's stationary and is fed the ball from the inside, all he needs is one step to swing around and hit a target perfectly. He'll be able to play the Sam Gilbert/Jack Watts type role from defence if needed though accountability will be an issue while he'll also be able to play a less physical and silkier Jack Watts-esque flanker role forward. Has poise but not the composure in contested situations which takes him away from a Pendlebury comparison. He's bottom-aged, mercurial, intuitive and tall.

However, there's a very high bust risk with him. He's not AFL standard yet - and he doesn't yet have a set position to be molded into either. He's small - and he'll be monstered unless he puts on some weight and even then he's still soft; - he'll need a mentality change. His explosiveness isn't elite, his handskills aren't elite and he isn't much of a two way player. Rarely do outside mids that aren't two of: quick & explosive, lethal by foot and able to play defense succeed. So far he's only one.

    A good comparison would be

Scott Pendlebury: Poise and composure on the outside
Jack Watts: Agility from his height and one step footskills
Jared Brennan: Mercurialness and ability to just create something that nobody else can do.

Matt Fuller's your Gilbee replacement. Mature aged - another veteran of Bassett's Norwood academy. Absolutely lethal on both sides - his left is capable of hitting a target 65 metres away almost like Hurn. Will be your designated kickout taker for 5 years. Can defend but it's not his specialty. Also not great at winning his own ball; he's someone you have to get the ball to - but that said it's worth it for his absolute composure and class on both sides. He'll break lines with his kicking, he'll set up plays and his kicking alone will put players into positions worthwhile that they wouldn't have thought to get into. He's also capable of playing a high half forward role where - like in defense his job is just to nail it to a target inside 50 or, roost up and nail it himself from 65. Class act.

Honeychurch - well, he's a steal. 175/65 so he's small and thin but he'll be a player. A bit like Hrovat in a lot of ways, really. A little quicker and better outside, though. He's quick, composed, clean at ground and in traffic and a hard nut. Size and footskills are what's kept him so low but really he's an AA u/18 player who racks it up. Will be a serviceable to good player.

Picking Bontempelli is good for you mob though. Aish would have been better but you did need the mercurial player to build around. Next year's a KPF bonanza so just tank and you'll be fine.

  5. Skippos SM Morgan

Happy to do profiles for anyone, just ask.

    Winners: St Kilda, Collingwood, North
    Losers: GC, Melbourne, Geelong

  6. Mousey AJ Son

Haha, thought you'd hate the Darcy Lang pick.

  7. Skippos SM Morgan

I didn't hate it - I just think he'd have lasted to 36 - and even then it'd be meh.

Jansen's a bit meh too and Kolodjashij eh

  8. Mousey AJ Son

The Lang pick didn't go over too well, but the Jansen and Kolodjashnij picks were well received. I won't pretend to know anything about Jansen, but the BigFooty duders were pretty happy with him, apparently he looks great with ball in hand. I really like Kolodjashnij, but only if we don't make him a key defender but rather groom him for the third tall rebounder role.

  9. Skippos SM Morgan

Jansen isn't athletic nor is he smooth. Foot and handskills below par and his hands aren't clean at all. He's tough though - great tackler and strong through the core; very Jobe Watson-esque in that he can break tackles and stand up and dispose well while in them. Big tank and good solid mark but really he's so deficient offensively.

Oh fmd. A Jared Brennan comparison?

  12. Skippos SM Morgan

Know fuck all about Lloyd aside from the fact that he screams 'component of a successful forward line' not 'star of one' - see: Ahmed Saad. Gordon ill do when I get on a computer

  13. Youngman JE Harding

Who are the cunts that we drafted?

  14. MatthewJay TA Miokovic

Liking that. Been so long since we've had a good crumber. Both of them 23 I think too.

Reckon Lennon could play Round 1?

  15. Skippos SM Morgan

I reckon he'll play round one and vye for knights' spot

  16. morgieb MC Burridge

McDonald as F/S, Trent Dumont, Ben Brown.

  17. Skippos SM Morgan

    You gunned it, pretty much

  18. Youngman JE Harding

    How do these blokes go?

  19. Mousey AJ Son

Ben Brown's a good pick up that late. Was great down the stretch for Werribee.

  20. Skippos SM Morgan

He's a good player at the wrong club for a player like him. The fact that he can ruck really goes in his favour though as if he plays it'll give Goldy a break. Can honestly imagine him and Majak battling to replace Tarrant in the side.

Dumont's class. Played in an SANFL premiership this year and looked the part.
