Perhaps centres should be differentiated in that:

Inside - Better hands, kicking ability and defence.

Outside - More attacking, however strong in defence.

From my own experience playing in both positons most collisions occur at 13 when running the ball and often many breaks are made there. I moving from 10 to 12 is much easier than 10 to 13 in my (and many pros I guess too, Barkley, Carter, Wilkinson all spring to mind) experience.

It's because second fives are often the second receiver, after the first five, so their roles are a lot more similar.

I agree the 13 is more of a ball runner and will crash ball a bit more.

Where as an inside centre will play almost as a second flyhalf tbh, if not just a little bit more running.

I'll have to agree with this.

It'll be really hard for a fullback to maintain good defense, and be able to attack and kick decently as well.

Can you allocate position points for different types of the same position, ie 50 set piece lock, 50 balanced?

  6. Eds E Ames

    yep.

  7. BoyBlunder BOY Blunder

Which is exactly what I said earlier.

Puts limitations on the positions that need all 4 stats.

  8. Doog J McDougal

    Sweet, I'm sorted then

  9. Colesy BL Hornby

As if there is no difference between inside and outside centre.

    pfftt

  10. Verigoat S Verigotta

Ye...thats almost as absured as saying theres a diference between any of the Rugby League positions

  11. Colesy BL Hornby

Was that meant to be a joke?

  12. Verigoat S Verigotta

There are no jokes on the internet

    ...apart from Neil

This could make it to be a good season tbh.

Little confused with the whole allocating points to positions thing...

Is there any particular benefit to pigeon-holing yourself into only 1 or 2 positions with the points - as opposed to having a relatively even spread between 2 or 3?

So for example me as a prop, I could put 100 points into Scrummaging Prop - or spread some points out to Mobile and/or Balanced Prop, or even into Scrummaging Hooker...what would be the relatively benefits/disadvantages either way?

Also with some of the special abilities, all well and good to say that they increase xx skills - but what do the skills actually DO? Most are self-explanatary obviously, but some, like Technique as a classic example, are a little vague...

  15. Eds E Ames

If you spread your points around, you will generally be slightly worse in your first position than you would have been, but obviously alot better in your second.

Although, the more similar the positions are, the less difference it will make.

  16. Pantherus KP Glensor

OK - so the only real disadvantage of pigeon-holing myself into a single position is that I'd be basically useless in any other position, limiting my versatility?

I cbf reading all that crap, I'll just wing it.

    Edited first post.

edits are good, although, and I'm not sure this will still be possible, but realistically there is as big a difference between inside centre and outside centre as there is between tight and loose head prop or blind and open side flanker, and I would like to see that more accurately represented. 12 can almost play as a second 10, where as 13 is inevitably more of a crash ball centre and, if possible, I would like to see this represented.

  20. Eds E Ames

I really don't know how to do this, though.
