Well we needed a hooker with Liddle out. Who are the alternatives? Playing Billy Walters there (not a long-term option) or signing a reserve grade standard one.

Grant gave us a short-term player to help us win, and of course there was no guarantee he'd go back to Melbourne depending on Smith's plans.

    Liked 90% of that post.
Except this "Brisbane need a good winger or centre and a gun fullback"
Brisbane primarily need a new coach.
Your talent is such, without the injuries and a good coach Brisbane should have been top 4 this year with its roster.

It also isn't so much who you need in terms of players. It is more who you don't need and need to wave goodbye to. The following lost plenty of games for you:
    1) Croft - worst half ever. Worse than Ato Hingano. Brisbane persisted because of the high pedigree team he came from. Awful logic.
    2) Jaymane Isaako -fucking awful. Words can not express my detest for his playing style. Much of the poor season is his fault alone as he established the slide and Brisbane never recovered.
    3) Carrigan - selfish me first player. Probably raised by rich parents who spoiled him.
    4) Cory Paix. Worst Hooker I have seen in all my days his youth notwithstanding.
    5) Tesi Niu - garbage player

*Dis honourable mention to Mathew Lodge. He was good. But not good enough and was essentially a highly skilled pay cheque player,

Getting rid of those 5 is a key priority.

    OK good answer. Makes sense.
Why isn't Billy Walters a long term option. I thought he looked ok.

  4. Cribbage RG Cribb

He's not a hooker and had barely ever played there before this year. Would have been a massive punt to set on playing him there (especially for 80 minutes), and fairly unncessary if the long-term plan was to bring Liddle back when he was fit and there was a loan option.

This result locks up the 8 now, yeah? 8th now 2 wins + differential ahead of 9th and the best team out of the 8 had a massive differential hit.

    OK

TIL Billy Walters is older than me. I just automatically assumed he was like 22-23.

  8. Lukic L Popovic

Did you watch us play. The Roosters scored more tries than they had tackles inside our 20. I've never seen that before.

  9. Lukic L Popovic

Packer had 3 runs for 16m.

    Pathetic.

We need to fuck off Reynolds, Benji, Mbye, Brooks and Packer. Rest of the team is ok. Obviously some improvements can be made but not bad.

Siebold is on a long, very rich deal. Signing some of the people I mentioned is very achievable. The people Brisbane need to lose are Boyd, Bird and Milford. The 5 you just named would barely be worth 1mil combined, those 3 are worth 3mil and offer less value.

If you really think Carrigan is a key priority to get rid of, you have issues. Croft and Isucko I agree should be gone. Paix and Niu are both under 20yrs old and on development deals. These are not a top 5, letterlone 10 issue for Brisbane.

    2. Goates
    3. Staggs
    4. Farnsworth

This should be locked in for the next few years, Farnsworth has been quite good recently and has a future in the centres or wing. I'm not sure where he is better use.

  11. Lukic L Popovic

    1. Doueihi
    2. Nofoaluma
    3. Leilua
    4. Talau (ok on the wing but natural centre)
    5.
    6.
    7.
    8. Aloiai
    9. Liddle
    10. Musgrove
    11. Garner (super disappointing this year - needs to be improved)
    12. Leilua
    13. Twal

    14. Mikaele
    15. Utoikamanu
    16. Blore
    17. McIntyre/Walters

Addo-Carr as a winger, Widdop and Foran would be ideal.

  12. morgieb MC Burridge

Hahaha fuck that's a ridiculous stat.

The Keepers in your line up in my opinion indeed include Farnsworth. That kid impresses because he plays with courage. Future captain of an Origin side maybe if he kicks on to his potential. Courage like that is rare.

I would keep Milford. I like him at half. After we fucked off SJ to another team for alledged inconsistency we were rudderless for 18 months without him. Don't let that happen to you.

Staggs is superb. People are talking him up coast to coast this weekend.

I also rate Boyd. However he doesn't deserve big coin agreed.

  14. Tartmaster AJ James

probs not origin considering he’s English

  15. Hunter AD Hunt

I stand by it. Manly would do a much better job against a proper top 8 side (than Souths would). Souths are a joke team.

  16. Sultan Pepper HG Emm

Penrith starting to worry me a bit with how good they're going, takes a lot for me to believe, but I'm getting close.

    1. You are right about Croft, he's been awful. He's being shat on by Milford who in turn has been shat on by a 19 year old rookie.
    2. Jamayne Isaako has been shit to mediocre after his debut season. His Dad has died or something recently after fighting for his life for a long time, but I dunno if it would have made him drop off that much.
    3. Could not be more wrong about Carrigan. He's been a leader since his U20s days, he's the guy that will take the tough runs no one else would want to. He's fucking quality and is going to be one of Brisbane's best players for a long time. The forwards taking runs late in the set has been a Brisbane issue for a few years now. I dunno if it's a coaching issue or a halves issue, but McGuire, Lodge, Haas etc have been guilty of it too,
    4. He's a half that's being transformed into a hooker for whatever reason, a project player still. He's quick but definitely needs to work on other areas.
    5. He's just turned 18, and is definitely undersized for the NRL. I'll wait and see how he goes after bulking a bit, but no idea what to make of him yet.

Coates will be there too. I prefer both him and Farnworth on the wing tbh, I think Oates will likely be in the 2nd row with all the players we'll be losing there.

  18. Hurricane JD Hurricane

Man, having a bad run with my facts this weekend. Better be more careful.

  19. Hurricane JD Hurricane

I guess I am guilty with generalising. I think Carrigan is a poor decision maker in the red zone and that catches my eye.Your comment there that all the Brisbane forwards somehow get their mits on the ball in the red zone late in the tackle count set was revealing to me. Found that an interesting comment.
I will lay off Carrigan disparagement but he is on my official radar. I am watching him closely.

This is such a shit show. End of this season can't come soon enough.
