Matthew Elliott to coach Warriors

    Confirmed on a two-year contract.

    Not sure whether to be pleased with the decision. Has a pretty average record in the NRL after doing well with Bradford.

    His record was good with Canberra but was kinda fail with Penrith. I'm gonna bet he flops.

    IMO their fools, you can't tell me Tony Iro isn't at very least on par with Elliott coaching wise, I'd even argue he'd be better and Iro had the whole playing group onside

    Valid point since Iro was so good when he was appointed interim coach at the end of the season. Dropping Johnson for the last game as benching Maloney was a coaching masterclass.

    Did a great job at bradford and theen went to canberra and let us have vainikolo not one of the best coaching moves, not one of my favourite coaches, plenty of good coaches out there that could do better I.E mick potter or craig bellemy

    I think Matt Elliott is a good dude, I get the impression that he's not tough enough on his players though.

    TBF he got Penrith when they were really slumping, he had a bit of a clean out and got them to 2nd, then was under pressure from the get go the following season.

    I think he's the sort of bloke that can do well at a club short term with a decent playing roster and does seem to have a good footy brain but after 2-3 seasons friendships form that cloud his judgement though. Will be interesting to see how it all goes.

    I like Elliot. Think he's an underrated coach. Penrith was a fiasco but no one's done much with them either. He's a decent coach and I hope he does well at the Warriors.
