FTP definitely better in terms of management. Battrick, though, has FC, which is a big win. Also a lot easier in terms of financial management, you're not losing 50k each week.

    Might give it a dig

Having to manage your finances like this I feel is a key part in FTP - it's way too easy to make huge bucks playing battrick.

    Waiting for a team now

Beaut, the more the merrier. I've only just started again too, although my 2nd team got to the top 200 before i forgot haha.

We should get a friendly tournament going

  6. Iridium IT Lee

Shouldn't take too long, although that depends on the country you chose.

btw, Gazza, love your avatar of Jezza crashing the Reliant Robin :D

  7. Chewie JA Chewie

That requires someone who has pavilion membership/coupons I believe. And I'm already part of something over on PlanetCricket on the weekends.

  8. Iridium IT Lee

Same. I doubt my challenge for this weekend is going to be accepted. Best leave it up in case or else I'll lose points although it won't make much difference since I'm last.

  9. Skippos SM Morgan

Doesn't have to be a 'on site one'

we can just arrange individual friendlies?

  10. BigDougy DG Dafter

Good to see more people signing up for FTP.

  11. Gazza GJ Weaver

Ok, got a team. What are some tips? Just so I don't screw it up

  12. Chewie JA Chewie

Non-members can only arrange friendlies for the weekend which is when my PlanetCricket tournament is so I won't be able to participate, and neither will iridium

Don't spend all your money on a few good players. Scout the transfer market for players around 20-21 years old who are reliable or accomplished in batting or bowling, and technique. Good secondaries will be helpful but not necessary when you're new.

Learn from my mistake...spent 70K on a 50K rated 28 YO or so whom is too good for my level. Target 18-21 year olds who have ratings of ~23/4K or so, and at least average batting for 18 year olds or so and a bit better the older they get. Don't be afraid to play youths in the senior team. Don't overpay for finger spinners - they're not a premium, they're everywhere.

  14. Chewie JA Chewie

23/24k is a terrible rating for someone in your senior side... you'd want them to be at least 30k with reli/reli primaries.

  15. Skippos SM Morgan

not for a beginner ranked 2000+ with 250K surplus when you only start with 20K rated players

  16. Chewie JA Chewie

In my first season I managed to get a side of 20-21 year olds, with ratings around 30k, all with a minimum of reli/reli for 1-10k each.

  17. Skippos SM Morgan

Yeah not anymore. To get a 20yo 30K rating lad, it costs between 20-50K now ....demand etc.

  18. Chewie JA Chewie

It was only a couple of seasons ago :/

Capable primaries would probably do fine in his league anyway. He'll just have to hope for some godly pull :p At least by starting now he should get prizemoney nearly straight away.

  19. Rocks DN Boland

Sell youth pulls for cash. Your academy won't be good enough to fund training.

The great market tomfoolery made me stop playing tbh. I had invested so much into getting decent academys and all of a sudden you can buy quality players for 1k on the market.

    It was bloody annoying.
