Not a bad game. Tit for tat all day. HT, Warriors led 20-10. 60th minute, Souths lead 26-22. Locke has been getting found out all day. **** he's overrated. Burgess having a pretty shit game. Sandow has been good.
AWTA been thinking this for awhile. Only decent game he has had imo was against Roosters in CHCH. Average winger not a future star imo.
Disagree with Burgess being shit. Had a big game! 19 hitups 150 metres. Good stats by a prop! Ahhh, a good win!
Ah, well, that proves it. 150m, he must have played well. Did you not notice the try he gifted the Warriors just before half time? Did you not see the blatant strip he committed that gifted the Warriors a penalty goal? 8 points right there.
souths leaked 8 points in the second half, that is far from awful. And, had some stupid errors in him without a doubt. He does it far to often as well. But watch the game, with the exception of Burgess no souths forward were making enough metres. he was the exception, if he wasnt there doing making those metres i daresay we would have been stuck down our end of the field all game.
Didn't say he was shit said Overrated. Metres gained 81.6 (51st for wingers in the nrl) Averages 9 hitups 8 offloads (10th) 4 linebreaks (24th) 1 LBA (41st) 33 Tackle Breaks (20th) 9 tackles (10th) but then he misses 1.8 and has 0.7 ineffectives Very meh stats nothing stands out to me apart from tackle breaks which in all likely hood would be against other wingers.
Can we dispense with the simplistic hyperbole that postulates, points against, is the best indication of a team's defence? You watched the game; don't tell me you thought the endless offloading and paper thin ruck defence, was good. My sentiments exactly.
I stand by what i said about Burgess. Without him actually making the hitups and the metres then we would not have won. its that simple. He made mistakes, mistakes he makes all the time and needs to iron out. But souths lacked go forward that whole game. He picked up on the work of stuart and geddes, he played the game he needed to. The stopping of offloads is a huge weakness in souths game. But i beleive that it is something that happens when our starting forwards are off. Taylor, burgess and asotasi. When we are forced to bring players like Tyrell who tackles low, crossman who is a very poor defender etc. Not to mention we always seem to scramble well. Souths defence was fine second half, far from great, but not nearly as bad as you originally made it out to be.
Given that Kevin Locke has yet to play in his preferred position I just have a problem with people claiming he has no chance of becoming a star in the NRL.
Considering he struggles to break the line and assist others in breaking the line I just fail to see him doing any better at fullback. I'm open to being proven wrong though when he finally gets the number 1 jumper.
MF would like a team full of Dallas Johnsons who make heaps of tackles, little to no errors or penalties. They'd make 25 metres a set. What a ****ing ripper game that'd be.
A team full of Johnsons vs a team full of Gallens. Gallens will keep giving away penalties, and the Johnsons will make a grand total of 0 tackles.
Locke's a dickload better at fullback. Gun work warriors, will be 2 in a row after the Titans beat them next week
You don't value defence or discipline anywhere near as highly as they deserve. That's not my problem... Again, take 30m off (very generous) Gallen's metres for every error and penalty and then see where he's at.
