CPL does take home pitch conditions into account in domestic cricket, but not quite as efficiently as I'd like. I'm hoping that by next season it'll do it as well as it does for Tests, in which case Feldman would probably be rated a fair bit worse. As it stands it was a good pick for Round 15 or whenever it happened. "Starting for lots of other teams" is a stretch though I think.
Lucky is gun, was definitely one of the best ODI boosted blokes around for about 5 rounds. Feldman is Aus FC h4x. Neesham has ODI bowling h4x and is a genuine bat down the order. Younis keeps. The primary justification for my squad having higher perceived depth to me than others, is the impact of ODI cricket on the quality of players and it's certainly something I was early to gravitate towards.
"Younis we know you're 42 and seen more naan then runs of late, but we'd like you to keep for 200 overs"
But I don't think I've actually played a match for them since the infamous S8 Knights. I only signed for the abandoned season.
I was always inclined to let that mistake slide because I thought it was funny. When I made the team it was also the one far more likely to occur. How times have changed eh?
MrPrez Team Name: Prezident's XI Name rating: F Truly one of the worst names CPL has ever seen. Abysmal. Squad: 1. Pieter Malan 2. Mohammad Shahzad 3. Faf du Plessis 4. Rassie van der Dussen 5. Shakib al Hasan (5) 6. Quinton de Kock (+) 7. Temba Bavuma/Duminy 8. Keemo Paul (3) 9. Craig Overton (1) 10. Daryn Dupavillon (4) 11. Dane Paterson (2) 12. Stephen Cook 13. Bjorn Fortuin 14. Umar Akmal 15. Imran Tahir 16. JP Duminy/Bavuma 17. Mohammad Asif 18. (Unpicked) Squad Depth: B- The batting depth of this team is very good, but the bowling while never wholly bad is lacking some big gun firepower which I suspect will be the biggest detriment for Prez in CPL. I reckon we will see him rotate his bowlers hard to see if any of them can bring a spark of life to his attack to support his very good batting lineup. Best Pick: Keemo Paul - Round 13 Morgie on Keemo: Gun pick. Very good FC record (admittedly in a bowler-friendly comp) and a good international one so far Cribb's Best Pick: Faf du Plessis - Round 3 Morgie on Faf: Very good pick this. Has a long and very solid Test record and is still in OK form in the format. Worst Pick: Daryn Dupavillon - Round 5 Morgie on Daryn: Bad pick for mine. His proper FC record isn't anything special. He does have a fair bit of upside I guess but lots of better options leftover. Why in the world did you pick Rassie and Faf and not a bowler? Rassie going when he did was a fine pick, hell it was even good but my god. Shakib + 3 bats in the first 4 rounds and then Dupavillon as your first quick? There were about two dozen blokes you should've went to first. Keemo Paul being picked when he did probably saved this team from being worst of the heap stuff. Prez will need to work some magic to eke out some more bowling from this squad with some canny trades I think.
Number 11 Team name: TBA (Unannounced) Name Rating: B+ Not having announced your season 2019/20 team name and having the last one be called TBA did make me smile. Nicely done. Squad: D Hughes D Smith Azhar Ali Rahane K Perera Dickwella Mahmudullah Dwaine Pretorious Harmer Hazlewood Boland Porter Doolan Cottrell Reece Iftikhar Ahmed Jomel Warrican (R18 Unpicked) Squad Depth: B+ The first XI for this team is bloody brilliant and barring injury this will be a very strong team in CPL but I think a couple post round 11 picks have really badly burned TBA. Cottrell in particular offers the squad absolutely nothing and should feel lucky to have been selected at all in the draft. 13 rounds in this squad was A all the way but has stumbled towards the close. Best Pick: Devon Smith - Round 10 Morgs on DS: Despite being shit at Test level, his domestic stuff is excellent when you consider how hard it is to bat in West Indian domestic stuff. Very good pick at this point. Cribb's Best Pick: Kusal Perera - Round 5 Morgs on Kusal: Strong selection. Has a decent international record that should hold him in good stead. Worst Pick: Cottrell - Round 14 Morgs on Cottrell: ODI form should probably make this pick decent, I think. Without it I wouldn't like it as he hasn't played much FC cricket recently and his stats there are nothing special for the conditions he bowls in. Some excellent mid round h4x picks from N11 should see him go deep into the tournament. Not a weak link in his first XI and some real h4x players being picked back to back will make him a bloke that can beat anyone on his day. Unfortunately Cottrell is one of the few instances of a player getting totally 0wned by playing in a shit FC comp. While I can appreciate the attempt at getting ODI h4x here, he just doesn't have the sheer weight of ODI wickets to burn away the stench of abject failure in Tests and being under par in a weak FC competition.
