Prince has definitely looked much better alongside Hunt than he did when he played with Wallace. That combination was cursed.
Like I've been saying for a while now, Wallace seems to make everyone around him play worse for some mystical reason. I'm glad we are getting rid of him. As for Hunt, I think he has potential, great vision and courage to take chances, but he's got a long way to go. Playing 30 minutes at hooker for 3 or 4 years hasn't helped.
you're only getting rid of him if someone else agrees for him to play for them while you continue to pay him. still can't believe he played fucking origin and they dropped fucking campese and retained him.
Mm. One of the worst decisions in recent Origin history. That along with not picking Carney and dropping Mullen after one game, and a lot of the supposed mystery around NSW's halves problems are illuminated. Mitchell Pearce is the most capped NSW half this millennium.
I agree it was a shocker of a call. However, Wallace was very good when he had a pair in the 08 series tbh.
Masoe has been such a good pick up for Penrith. Averaging just a tick under 100m a game @ 10.5m per run off the bench is pretty much exactly what you're looking for from your 4th choice prop. Bit of a shame he's leaving the NRL next year.
It'll never happen, especially since he's captain, but I think Thaiday is just a bench player these days for us. I think both Gillett and Glenn offer far more on the edges. It baffles me how he's a walk-in starter in every rep side.
Should have been Prince and Hunt from the start of the season. We'd be safely at home in the 8 somewhere with that combo calling the shots all year...... Hopefully last night is the last time we'll ever see Peter Wallace nuffing it up in a Brisbane jersey.
Both have suspect defence IMO. Not good from your starting back rowers although, I do agree about dropping Thaiday back to the bench. When he's fresh there still seems to be some glimmer of his high standards when he's tiring, he's becoming an absolute shunt.
If that's not a top 8 side on paper, I'm not here. 1.Hoffman 2. 3.Reed 4.Hodges 5. 6.Prince 7.Hunt 8.Hannant 9.McCullough 10.McGuire 11.Glenn 12.Thaiday 13.Parker 14. 15.Gillett 16.Dodds 17. Norman, Bond, Stagg, Wallace, Lui, Baptiste. If he'd dropped Wallace earlier, we would've made the 8 afaic.
Griffin is shit. All of the biggest problems, such as defence, (no)linespeed, persisting with Wallace, poor use of the interchange, lack of fitness/lots of fatness etc. are all largely his fault for not managing the side properly.
Yes we've had injuries. And we've also had a coach who waited until the final quarter of the season to make some difficult choices that should've been made months earlier.
Well, I didn't think it was a difficult decision. He obviously thought it was. I didn't think dropping Norman was a difficult decision either but most of you blokes seem to think it was.
