Provincial Championship Round 1: Great Britain vs Rest of Australia

After half time, Pilgrim makes the kick to get the game underway. He puts a decent kick up which SDR Laing claims near the middle. He makes a few yards, before being taken down about 5 metres inside his own half. McDougal gets to the ruck brilliantly and along with support from Morris. Ames gets the ball out to Luffman, who gives it to BOY Blunder. Golding receives the ball from Blunder and tries to hand off Son. Good strong tackle from Son. At the breakdown, things are slowed down again and Ames picks and goes. Then C Laing does so, more efficiently. JP Wilkinson has a go now. Good driving again from GB. Ames gets it out on the blind to AP Farnsworth. BOOM! ALESSI HAS BEEN RUN OVER BY THE STEAM TRAIN THAT IS AP FARNSWORTH! GEC KING IS NOT GOING TO MAKE IT TO FARNSWORTH...TRY IN THE CORNER FOR GB! LOVELY RUNNING BY FARNWORTH. HE MADE THAT TRY HIMSELF. BRILLIANT STUFF. Ames cannot quite kick the conversion but the score is now 19-0 to Great Britain. They are really playing there hearts out at the moment. Pilgrim puts another kick up, but this time it is up high for McDougal to claim. Lovely take, and he has formed the maul beautifully. He keeps it in there for a while before Ames decides to take a box kick. Nice; good length kick from Ames. He has given GB good territory. P Retzel has come on for AD Funkotron now. This may unbalance the front row, but ROA Selector Snake has faith.

 

Update: 80 mins
Dover makes a nice handy throw into the middle which is claimed very well by Erschoff. He taps it down to Perry. He makes a pick and go. Pilgrim fills in at Scrum Half and sets Manera up for the pick and go. Nice gain from him there. They ruck over well and Gemmell has taken another pick and go. More valuable yards for ROA. Perry decides to ship it out and Pilgrim receives a centimetre perfect pass from Perry. Vago receives the ball from Pilgrim and makes a pass to Son. Son sees Devonshire on his outside. SMASHED! JEM Logan has just pummelled Devonshire. Turnover for GB. C Laing makes a lovely steal and Ames has the ball set up on a platter. Luffman receives the ball and is looking for Farnsworth and Golding with that chip over the top. KING GOT THERE IN FRONT OF BOTH OF THEM AND SON IS ALONGSIDE HIM. IT IS 2 ON 1 FOR ROA AND GRAHAM DOESN’T HAVE MUCH CHANCE TO TACKLE BOTH OF THEM. TRY!!! SON WAS HANDED THE BALL JUST BEFORE GRAHAM MANAGED TO TACKLE KING. UNDER THE POSTS FROM SON AND PILGRIM MANAGES TO GET THE CONVERSION WITH EASE. ROA have some new found confidence, and they will look to convert this into points. But there is not many plays left at all and E Ames puts a long one back to GEC King. He makes a few yards and is almost turned over, but brilliant rucking from Manera and Rocker has won ROA the ball. SDR Laing and Verigotta hang out the sides and mow into the on coming pick and goers of Dover and Masters. The ref calls last play and Perry takes the ball out of the ruck. Pilgrim gathers it and tries to put Vago through. He can’t though and Vago has knocked it on. A rare mistake from Vago. Great Britain have won 19-7 and the Man of the Match award goes to C Laing for getting everywhere around the pitch.
