Will be happening on Friday-Sunday next week as I just announced in the schedule. Thinking of doing it as follows: NSW City v NSW Country New Zealand do their own thing Britain do their own thing Queensland v Asia NSW Third XI v Victoria They don't have official provincial status but they have FC status so I don't really want Asia or Victoria fielding two sides each. Queensland possibly could but Asia and Victoria can't exactly trial each other given they're just about to play a three game series against each other. Thoughts?
Asia could play against Celtic Provinces, however it'd fuck up the availabilities of all the Celts who are part of other provinces from the other trials. Ahh fuck it, cunts will manage. Means: NSW City v NSW Country New Zealand do their own thing Britain do their own thing Queensland do their own thing Asia v Celtic Provinces NSW Third XI v Victoria
Well I'm obviously a biased cunt and I suppose it doesn't really matter. But QLD do have a use for their 2nd XI and probably will have active and keen players in their 3rd XI.
Yeah I was going to say about CP, but thought it might not be a starter due to it taking players from others.
It's more just a matter really of whether Queensland have 22 First Class standard players to trial against each other. They do tbh. Up to Rusty whether he'd rather send a team of lets say players #5-16 against Asia to complete for spots, or play two roughly equal sides of Queenslanders against each other. You'd probably play either way I reckon.
No, they're just trials for the upcoming three game series: New South Wales v Queensland (State of Origin) Asia v Victoria (Borisc Trophy) Britain v New Zealand (Jae Taylor Trophy) Seconds don't play anything until Week 5 when the PC and the PCDIY comps start. So the NSW City v NSW Country game would be full strength, as a selection trial for the NSW side to play Queensland the following week. HOWEVER! If the Celts played a game then Tarty wouldn't be eligible for Country and you'd take his place.
Keen for GB to have a north-south trial Edit: Apparantly CP wouldn't be involved so it'd be just north v south England, which works even better
I'm quite keen to see how Northern England and Southern England sides would actually look tbh, you're getting so many players these days that it might be on the cards in the PC in a season or two. The province that really needs to split is fucking NZ, but there's no way to properly do it.
In all honesty is there much point in CP being involved in the trails this season? It seems like it is just going to mess things up for other provinces needlessly.
You've got some kind of thread somewhere detailing which parts of the country people are from, right?
Surely the side that needs a trial most of all is the hypothetical side, to see if it can compete? Freeing up spaces for fringe players like Rask helps too, there's a reason those players all play Care Cup.
