    Yeah but you've got Copley.

To be fair, Copley has been pretty good of late too, ever since Gagai left.

Copley's a player I think could eventually leave Brisbane to get an extended run in his actual position (centre) and bite them in the arse. I understand why Brisbane fans don't like him though; I just get a "loser" vibe from him. It's hard to explain but whenever there's a 50/50 involving him I always expect nature to not decide in his favour. The higher the stakes, the more I get this feeling. There have been other players like this through time as well - Daniel Fitzhenry and Jarrod Croker gave me the same feeling. It's a quality separate from actual ability and one that probably doesn't actually exist, but it makes me not really back them to come through when needed... as if they're just terminally unlucky or something. Hard to explain.

I'm starting to like him more now, he's been great the last 4 or 5 rounds. Before that he was just a turd out there though. With Reed out for a while he might get a decent shot in the centres.

I know what u mean every time Copley gets a half chance I feel more confident he'll be stopped. Its just because they're the complete opposite of an enforcer/aggressive type I guess

    FITZY!

I know exactly what you mean though. I think it's a feeling that tends to come with footballers who don't exactly look like they should be footballers.

Smashed them. By far our best effort all season.

Indeed. Roberts best game in First Grade imo.

Really, really good line D. But they were able to break the line a bit to easily, but the scrambling back was excellent.

Too bad the season is over.

pffft 6 more wins should do it.

    McManus out for 4-6 weeks.

What do we actually make of Newcastle so far this season? Have they under-achieved significantly, do you guys think? Or is it part of the rebuilding process? I personally think it's a bit of both but mostly the latter. How do you Knights fans actually feel about lining up over in New Zealand after thrashing Manly at home? Is it confidence, ambivalence, pessimism?

I think the Knights will come home strong.

They've definitely under-performed. I look at their squad and I see a team that should be premiership contenders. Even allowing for the fact that they have a new coach and a few new players, and the fact that Gidley has been out for most of the year, they still should've made the lower half of the top eight, and it doesn't look like they'll do that.

Lower-half of the top 8 I can understand. Premiership contenders is a bit extreme though. Next year I think they will be.

I don't think so. I feel that their squad has over-performed at times over the last few years giving a false sense that they were better than they really are.

Take Gidley out, add a bit of insecurity over some of the blokes' spots and you see them for what they really are. 2 blokes who are really trying are Buderus and Boyd, the problem is between them, namely Mullen.

No doubt. Look at my posts last year about how it baffled me whenever they actually won a game, and how surprised I was that they didn't end up with the spoon. Then look at my identical posts from 2010. The whole "we don't use props" thing drove me absolutely bonkers.

They addressed the main issues with their squad this year though and on paper they became outside premiership contenders in my eyes. Of course the fact that it was going to take some time to gel the new side with the new coach etc meant they were unlikely to actually challenge, but failure to make the eight this year was an under-performance.

Most people who say Mullen is the issue are off the mark IMO. He's been fucked around so much. He'd be a weapon at most other clubs.
