I've had 4-5 guys consistently pming me asking about structure and how to manage their list and balance.

Considering i am at an advantage knowing how the sim works in regards to that and I'm going to try and be as transparent as possible so if anyone wants to pm me for advice/questions etc then ill happily respond on anything aside from what is player x rated as its irrelevant.

Yeah will do if they're relevant to everyone. Most of it has been things only relevant to their team.

some things I might have said to individuals that I reckon might be relevant

    - You're going to need three key backs worthy of playing. There's a good chance your opposition will play 3 KPFs or 2 KPFs + a resting ruck. If you've got a small matching up on them, you're fucked. If someone like Maxwell takes the resting ruck though, it's not ideal but you'd be able to get away with it instead of a shit KPD I guess

    - I'd recommend having at least 5 KPDs and 4 KPFs on your roster. 5 KPFs would be nice but isn't necessary as you dictate your forward structure whereas your defence is reactive to your opponent. A utility tall being your third KF if you play one is ideal in case of an injury in defense. If you're playing 2 KFs and 3 KDs, I'd recommend a utility tall being one of the KDs in case a forward goes down.

    - It's okay to have only 1 KF playing for small parts of the game if you want your 2nd ruck to be a KF i.e. tippett/clark and don't want to play 3 talls fwd.

    - I'd look for 4 rucks as well on the squad

    - If every defender is a lockdown, you're going to have no rebound

    - If you put a sloth defender on franklin, you're going to get burnt. Player X might be a great key back, but ensure the right key backs are matched up on the right forwards. It might be worth playing your 3rd best KPD on someone like Franklin if they're more athletic

    - Having all outside mids will see you lose the clearances and hardballs. Big time. Likewise all inside mids will see you cause a lot more 50/50 balls as opposed to 70/30 balls.

    No rebound defenders?

    Well I'm fucked.

So what you're saying is make your side as close to real life as possible :p

  6. Skippos SM Morgan

Yes. But some people here don't know what real life is. I've had to spell it out for them.

Dammit I have only drafted like 2kpd and 3 kpf in total letterlone just for my starting side

    Read it again dude.

Holy fuck tonight hasn't been my night. Almost Nova-like.

If I play 4tall forwards and 2 small forwards how do I name them in my lineup? Are small forwards more suited to hf flank?

  11. Mousey AJ Son

I wouldn't play 4 talls, and if I did I'd almost start one on the bench. If you had 3 I'd have a FF, CHF and a FP. With 4 it'd depend on the type of your third and fourth talls.

I'd assume Mayne is the 4th tall he is referring to?

  13. Jabba HJ Bots

If Goodes and Mayne are 3rd and 4th would I start them both or move Jetta up and start another mid with Mayne to the bench.

Can you explain aswell like I really dont understand why you wouldnt want 4 guys to kick the ball into who have a good chance to outjump their opponent.

  14. morgieb MC Burridge

I'd be tempted to play Goodes in the midfield given your forward options.

  15. Jabba HJ Bots

My midfield is really strong i think wouldnt surprise me if it is in the top half for cpl midfields

    Jetta
    Sidebottom
    Thomas
    Sewell
    Mcveigh
    Cross
    Rosa
    Grigg

Goodes and Mayne can both play small, so you'll be okay imo.

And because if you have too many talls, you get smashed when the all hits the ground. It's kinda like in basketball, you don't want 4 centres and a guard.

Jetta, Sidebottom, Thomas and McVeigh could all play HFF to a high level. It's good to be versatile, and you definitely have that imo.

I'd play Jetta in the forward line and Goodes in the middle with your structure. Mayne's a 'gen' forward so I wouldn't worry about him being key.

  18. Jabba HJ Bots

Why would Goodes in the middle work?

  19. Mousey AJ Son

I was gonna suggest that, but he's already playing Jetta forward iirc.

    And 'gen' forward?

He played midfield most of his career. Won both his Brownlow Medals in the midfield.
