Reeling 'em in: Catfish in focus
By Catatafish

With the hooks baited, boat fueled and beers on ice, the Catfish recruitment team have been hitting the waters of cricsim to reel a few signings over the past 2 weeks.

It is with great pleasure that we would like to announce 3 of our foundation signings: P Retzel, LE Schaw and JHF Howe, we caught up with the 3 of them to get their thoughts on all things Catfish.

Top Order Batsman P Retzel:

<style>@font-face { font-family: "Cambria"; }p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal { margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman"; }div.Section1 { page: Section1; }</style> Pretzel, you've got a good reputation around cricsim, do you think being aligned with the Catfish Cricket club could damage that in any way?
Quite the opposite in fact, I believe that the CCC name has a number of quality members attached to it and a fresh appeal. I would not get involved with any club that does not have the right base of member quality and level of commitment and the CCC indubitably tick both boxes.

Why do you think the Catfish Cricket Club should be brought into the Cricsim competition?
I think the Catfish should be brought into the Cricsim competition simply because of the amount of interest and grassroots support the club has gathered. In the past I believe that quite a few of the clubs that have been introduced had a decidedly average membership base and level of commitment, which lead to some horrible inclusions. When you reflect on the current bid compared to those in the past, it's would appear an almost absolute certainty that the Catfish would have to enter the competition at one point.

Is there anything you'd change about the way club director HG Emm has gone about the bid?
No, I think it's been a good campaign so far from Emm. The club has an instantly recognisable name and image, and as such has attracted no shortage of quality members expressing interest. He's met some opposition from Cribb but appears determined to make this dream of introducing a quality Cricsim club to the competition come to fruition. It's up to the powers that be to mull over what is surely to be a dynamite addition the comp.

Pumas Stalwart and wicket keeping extraordinaire LE Schaw:

<style>@font-face { font-family: "Cambria"; }p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal { margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman"; }a:link, span.MsoHyperlink { color: blue; text-decoration: underline; }a:visited, span.MsoHyperlinkFollowed { color: purple; text-decoration: underline; }div.Section1 { page: Section1; }</style> So Escath, it must be asked, you're at an established club on the way up why head to The Catfish?
There are multiple reasons why I feel a move away from the Pumas to the Catfish will be beneficial for all parties involved. On a personal level, I would like to broaden my experiences by playing for another club and taking on new challenges. I feel this would make me into both a better player on the field and better person off the field, as I try to fit into a new club environment. While it will be hard for me at first, I feel if I should return to the Pumas later in my career, I will be able to give even more back through this experience.

How much faith do you have in Catfish Director HG Emm to come up with the goods and make this bid a success?
There is no doubt that the road to bringing the Catfish into the Bannerman Shield will be a tough one, but from what I have seen, HG Emm has heart and a fighting spirit against all odds. If any club is to be able to overcome the CricSim administration's stand on expansion clubs, it will be this bid made by the Catfish CC.

Why in your eyes will the Catfish work?
As I have already mentioned, the director, HG Emm, will play a large part in why this club will even be admitted to the competition in the first place, but as the future president, he will bring a drive that will spread to the rest of the club. One player does not make a team, however, and that is why I feel this club will be especially strong, with standout players such as BG Herd and HT Davis already being rumoured to joining this club, the Catfish will be nothing to underestimate. On top of this, I strongly agree with the decision to outright reject players such as TA Miokovic, as I feel this would boost the morale of this club.

Rising Star and part time Haiku specialist JHF Howe:

<style>@font-face { font-family: "Cambria"; }@font-face { font-family: "Book Antiqua"; }p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal { margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman"; }div.Section1 { page: Section1; }</style>

<style>@font-face { font-family: "Cambria"; }@font-face { font-family: "Book Antiqua"; }p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal { margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman"; }div.Section1 { page: Section1; }</style>
Howe there's no doubting you're a player on the way up who's made a nice little home for himself at the stars, why risk a big move early in your career to an unproven brand like the Catfish?
Brands are no object
The door opens before me
The future beckons

<style>@font-face { font-family: "Cambria"; }@font-face { font-family: "Book Antiqua"; }p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal { margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman"; }div.Section1 { page: Section1; }</style> It's shaping as though you would be one of the Spearheads of the Catfish BS attack, how do you think you'll handle the step up full time?
Quality lies hidden
Emm's faith will be rewarded
Wickets will tumble

<style>@font-face { font-family: "Cambria"; }@font-face { font-family: "Book Antiqua"; }p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal { margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt; font-size: 12pt; font-family: "Times New Roman"; }div.Section1 { page: Section1; }</style> Do you feel as though the Catfish are a genuine move in the right direction for cricsim? Or is the bid just the newest flavour of the month?
Whispers turn to cries
Storms gather amongst the crowds
A legacy comes forth

Reading these responses there is no doubt that there is a definite buzz in the air in regards to this bid and one can't help but feel that it's on the brink of admission.

Stay tuned for our next edition of Players in Focus and also our 'Catch of the Day' where we will be hoping to unveil the official Catfish Cricket Club colours.

Well, you know how I get itchy feet sometimes. It's not always due to the outrageous case of Athlete's Foot I have, but occasionally it's just a signal that it's time to move on to pastures new.
