Yes because no one in the history of sport has ever fully recovered from an ACL injury
There are a whole lot more that haven't.
He'll be fine. And at 22 with his level of fitness and work ethic I wouldn't be surprised if he recovers a lot sooner than expected.
I'd back him to make a full recovery, he doesn't look like one who skips legs day.
Yeah it has zilch to do with that. No amount of squats is going to aid the bit of hamstring that will be his new Anterior Cruciate Ligament.
Plenty of athletes don't quite get to where they were honestly. Especially those that are all about agility and speed off the step.
List one league player who made a full recovery and I'll name you 10 who didn't.
James Tedesco, Lachlan Coote. Jordan Kahu
So your turn to name 30...
I was reading in the offseason that they almost never use the hamstring anymore because sportsmen kept getting hamstring injuries afterwards, and usually use the kneecap tendon instead now. Your point still stands though obvs.
Dr Julian wrong again then.
Have you had an ACL reconstruction? I have and it is a massive part of your rehab. No hamstring used in mine. If you don't strengthen your legs than forget about it. Fucking clueless post even by your standards.
Of course it's part of your rehab.
but you're strengthening muscles, you can't strengthen your faux acl ffs
Coote and Kahu have unquestionably returned as different players. Slower with less reliance on footwork. 10 it is then.
So I'll use those 2 to kick me off.
Sione Faumuina (I'm pretty sure that's what he did at Canberra)
Don't play ignorant. You can strengthen all of your support structure, but that's not your actual ACL is it.
Never said you could, I mean it's a given that you can't improve a ligament, we really don't need you to point that out. I simply said the guy has tank legs so one would assume he has a good work effort when it comes to legs day which will serve him well in his recovery from his ACL. Take the rest of the day of the interweb aye, refresh.
Nah fuck off. Strengthen the joint all you want you still have a way higher chance of doing the injury again.
Because being a fit athlete really helped Will Zillman, Terry Campese, Brent Tate And Tautau Moga didn't it? As I said, RTS's fitness and leg strength has zilch to do with his actual ACL. If it had ANYTHING to do with it he wouldn't have injured the ligament in the first place.
Ok so you would say to your patient if you were a knee doc, get the surgery then do fuck all else and good luck to ya. FMD!
I don't think the big issue is regaining strength in the knee.
The big issue is confidence, once you do your knee it's forever in your mind and everytime you go to put any sort of weight or change direction it plays on your mind which means you refrain from doing it most time.
That will be RTS biggest challenge IMO.
For sure. Massive factor. Still a ridiculous notion to say strengthening the knee will do fuck all.
It will help but let's face it once you've broken or torn something it is never the same again. No matter how much you try to strengthen anything (ligament or bone) it will always be susceptible to re-injury.
