Think I may potentially have the widest musical tastes of anyone in this thread. Anyone else listen to a ton of unrelated genres? I listen to: alternative rock, 70s/80s rock, synth-pop, modern pop, drum & bass, prog/electro house, electro, techno, hardstyle, metal, dubstep, some emo shit, new wave, 90s/modern rap, trance and so on.

If anyone can rival this list I will be impressed.

That's pretty average for most people.

Combine D&B/Prog/Electro House/Electro/Techno/Hardstyle/Trance as electronic music (As that's pretty much all it is) and you don't have that much.

Pretty sure I'd have the widest of musical tastes on the forum anyway.

Punk, Rock, Rockabilly/Rock & Roll, Surf, Hip Hop, Soul, Ska, Oi!, R&B, Folk, Blues, Country, Classical, Jazz, Reggae, Swing, Ragtime, Metal, Doo-Wop, Pop. The crap like "Indie"

Which when broken down would be way too much to list.

Pyschobilly, Bluegrass, Celtic, Doom, Folk Punk, Psychadelic, Garage Punk, Lo-Fi, Hardcore, Post Punk, Turntablism, Riot Grrrl, Big Band etc. etc.

I think I would have one of the widest tastes on the forum, or of not at least one of the biggest appreciation for music. Although I'll concede if it doesnt include a guitar or keys it's probably not my thing which basically just leaves me with various sun genres of Rock, Country, and Punk. I'm curious as to whether you actually find yourself regularly listening to Swing and Ragtime acts at least as much as you would a rock or a punk outfit or have you just got those on the list for the sale of having a diverse list?

I regularly listen to Ragtime & Swing. It's good background music for when I'm in the study or relaxing and if it's a sunny day, In the car.

And not a big fan of electronic, but I will on occasions listen to electronic acts like Crystal Castles, Gameboy Gamegirl.

Fair enough then, you've certainly proven yourself worthy of the title.

Been on a thrash metal kick lately. Testament putting out an awesome new album, Kreator and Overkill also delivering brilliant albums but listening to Megadeth Rust In Peace. My absolute favourite metal album of all time. The solos from Mustaine and Marty Friedman are examples of pure talent in the shredding department.

All rad bands Paddy. Fan of oldschool Kreator/Overkill or new? Or both? Enemy Of God is a favourite metal album of mine.

Check out Mortal Sin & Hobbs Angel Of Death, old Australian thrash.

Love old and new school of those bands. Kreator and Overkill have been pretty consistent through their careers.

Ah yes I have heard Mortal Sin (got one of their albums) and Hobbs Angel of Death. Two really good bands, I would like to see the thrash scene revive in Australia.

Meh, I suppose you are right. However, hardstyle sounds pretty much nothing like prog house (I'd say a lot of the genres you listed that you listen to sound a ton more similar than these two) but if you wanted to group all of mine into electronic then my list would really be tightened up.
