    Scott Flack

At the beginning of his career Flack appeared to be a fairly innocuous player, but there were moments of class that suggested he could be the star he has become. The first one being when he got a shock call up out of the Avo Lovers’ Cup (ALC) by Robert Cribb to play in the post-season extravaganza – the State of Origin. Having failed with both bat and ball in First Class (FC) cricket, Flack did manage to show signs of his capabilities with the ball in the ALC at the tail end of the season. Due to New South Wales’ awful bowling depth, Cribb took a risk and selected him to bowl first change and bat at 9. He rewarded this risk by producing a match-winning 125 in the first game of the series and finished with a batting average of 47.60. However, when Season 2 came about he seemed to return to old ways, except for a stunning 175* (which was his only score over 50 in the Bannerman Shield that season).

Questioning whether the CricSim cricket circuit was where he wanted to be, Flack decided to step away from the game for Season 3. Looking back, this is maybe one of the best decisions he ever made. When he came back for Season 4 everything seemed to have gelled into place. While bowling did not disappear from his game, it was his batting where the difference was to be seen. In his return season he finished with FC figures of 1557 runs at an average of 64.88, certainly pointing at what was to come.

In Season 7 there was another major change for Flack, this time on the bowling front. Previously he had been your average batting all-rounder who would primarily score you runs but would chip in with wickets here and there. Having not previously had a FC season where he averaged under 40, he went on to average 31.73 with the ball. Since this point, his bowling has gone from strength to strength, especially in club cricket. As well as being a destructive middle order batsman, Flack became some who could also opening the bowling for a side. In Season 11 he took 106 FC wickets in total, showing just how for his bowling has come.

Flack is able to boast fantastic statistics, but even they do not really reflect truly how good a player he is, especially on the bowling front, as he seems to be a player that is ever developing. At the end of Season 11 his FC statistics were 19647 runs at an average of 48.75 and 462 wickets at an average of 35.72.

His impact for CricSim has not just been on the field, he is another one who has contributed to our game off the field as well. He founded one of CricSim's leading clubs, the Pumas. While he handed the reins over seasons ago, he is still a key figure behind the club and has provided the club with much needed experience at times. The club currently has a number of young players who may not have had their chance to develop in a strong club had it not been for SA Flack.

    That's unfair. Flack can bowl.

Yeah, Flack did a reverse Kallis in a way. Kallis started off as a serious bowler but eventually gained an appreciation for the fact that being a front line fast bowler is seriously lame and became a part-timer.

Flack, on the other hand, couldn't be bothered leading a bowling attack until he one day woke up and realised the Bannerman Shield dared try to pass itself off as having batting enough depth to field eight or more sides, and decided he might as well show off by opening the bowling too.

Flack, WAG. Obvious choice is obvious.

The thing is - yeah, the original inductees are going to be pretty obvious. But I think the Herald plan is to induct one player every season, so this legwork of original inductees is setting up something quite exciting for seasons to come.

Too many people in the hall of fame already.

    3 from 3.

    Well done Flack.

First 10ish will be fairly obvious. After that inducting 1 a season might be tough.

Not really. By the time 10 are inducted we'll be starting Season 15, plenty of time for new greats of the game to appear.

Obviously you buy into the oldfags4lyf philosophy so you won't see it like that.

I think you should have played atleast 9 or 10 seasons before being considered.

  14. Callum CJ Laing

By that stage there will be another chunk of guys that have done that.

By that stage half of us will have played 15 seasons so obviously these players will be far ahead in the queue.

    Flack.

Someone who is great after 10 seasons >>> someone who has been good for 15 seasons

Longevity only gets you so far.

    Good stuff Priddo

Show me where I tried to say that?

I'm saying that it will take 20 odd players here from start/initial seasons before any of you faggots are even thought of

I don't think there have been 20 consistently great players who debuted in the first two seasons tbh.

I mean yeah you get blokes like Stacker, but he was only good for like 2 seasons himself, they don't get extra credit just because they were Season 1 and Season 2. Marcuss has been gun for much longer than that. Even someone like Bullpitt, was gun for like.. 8 seasons? By the time Season 15 or whenever rolls around, someone like Marcuss, Gazza or Lukic could've been gun for just as long as that, assuming they don't tail off now.
