Cribb Rates the Picks

  1. Mariner CL Warrington

    KP an interesting one.

  2. Cribbage RG Cribb

    26. Kevin Pietersen (Ritchie)
Like Clarke in that he can play innings that few other can, but also like Clarke in that he hasn't quite pinned down that ruthlessness in easier situations. Will be facing some bowling attacks that he really cbf against in this competition which is probably why he's lasted as long as he has; not many if any batsmen better than him left however so a good pick.

  3. MrPrez CM Dyer

I'M PREZ AND EVEN I THINK THERE ARE BETTER BOWLERS AROUND THAN MORKEL.

  4. MrPrez CM Dyer

    Pietersen's a great pick imo.

  5. Cribbage RG Cribb

I was sure you meant him when you kept telling people there were better bowlers left than who they were picking. :p

  6. MrPrez CM Dyer

I was meaning him as well as others for some of them :p For most I wasn't, though.

  7. Hunter AD Hunt

Yeah you pretty much hit the nail on the head in two points. I was looking at a bowler but felt the comparative advantage needed to be taken. The drop in quality from openers is like jumping off a cliff compared to the slope of fast bowling. Again over the past year he's definitely not the best test opener. Probably not even second best but I thought I'd look somewhat to the future with this pick (Learnt my lesson from Vettori :p). Can definitely see there being more chance of Cook turning things around and reclaiming the #1 test opener spot than him continuing this mediocrity and Smith sitting pretty.

  8. Callum CJ Laing

To then pick Haddin makes this an even worse pick.

  9. Athlai JJD Heads

The kiwis are pretty much sabotaging each other.

If I didn't pick Southee, Chewie, Phlegm and Ritchie would have.

If Phlegm didn't pick Taylor, Ritchie would have.

If Ritchie didn't pick Boult, Phlegm would have.

    Fairly hilarious.

  10. Phlegm SP Phlegm

I was never going to pick Southee in round 1 because I was gunning for Ross, and was hoping one of Southee and Boult would make it to my next pick.

Cribb pretty hard on the Pietersen pick IMO, reckon he'd have been fine with the Boult pick and they're effectively both Round 1/2 picks since it's a double.

  12. 99* JJ Ritchie

I went with Pietersen first simply so if I wanted to retain Boult it would only cost me my second round pick.

Now just need him to trash India. (*touch wood*)

  13. Athlai JJD Heads

You don't need him to trash anyone. He'll be in the top 10 fast bowlers in the world which makes him a gun.

  14. Athlai JJD Heads

Swap me and Captain's picks around and I reckon you'd get a truer representation of where Harris and Southee should have been picked up

  15. Cribbage RG Cribb

This only works if we run with the same amount of teams.

  16. Benny BS Read

    Not sure if srs

  17. Cribbage RG Cribb

Well, he's definitely in the top 11. And that's where the gap is.

In order of national side rather than quality as such, the top 11:

    Steyn
    Philander
    Morkel
    Harris
    Johnson
    Pattinson
    Siddle
    Anderson
    Broad
    Southee
    Boult

Bit of a gap after those blokes IMO, and yes there are a couple there who I rate Boult higher than. So "srs", yeah.

  18. Gazza GJ Weaver

    Harris? I don't reckon

  19. Benny BS Read

Can think of 5 unpicked paces who I'd pick before Boult.

  20. Athlai JJD Heads

And the point is that Cribb thinks you'd be wrong and picking inferior pacers.
