Yeah, you need at least one Turcotte or similar who is gun and still young enough to stay in your team for 8 odd seasons, they give you the platform to build around.

  2. Mattt MP Jones

Turcotte is a little special, can't wait for him to develop a little more this season before really helping push the NT forward.

Older players are the best way providing you have enough youngsters to make money in the future or be key players for when you have to keep renewing your team, which is usually every season. What you don't want to be like D-Y-G who have 100% oldies and every year they lose quality and fall back because they have no strategy outside of it, until they eventually have to sell everyone and go into hiding for over a season to build some fund to get players again. That is not what you want

Congrats on beating the Walkers, it really came as a surprise to me. Goodluck to you when you face GilGil in the final, he has a mammoth team!!!!

  4. Mattt MP Jones

Cheers Droos. I think it did for most people, but nobody listens to me when I tell them not to underestimate me and think I will never get back to the top. *cough* Droos *cough*

  5. Droos JP Rhodes

Haha, guilty as charged, although to be fair you did not do it under the circumstances you then planned to do it!

I beat Mark in an away game today, 16 - 20. He dominated all the stats except forward play as my scrum and lineout dominated his - unexpected but really happy about that!

  6. Mattt MP Jones

That's a top win. You both look like you might be pushing for promotion this season from div 2 so a great win for you guys. Are you into the next round of the SZ now?

  7. Droos JP Rhodes

I reckon so, Mark hasn't updated the tables yet, but I was 1 point behind him in 3rd and I now beat him, so i reckon I passed him, but Haystack had the same amount of log points as me although he was 20 points behind me on margin, but I reckon he lost to the Hurricanes so I should have made it! :drunk:

  8. Droos JP Rhodes

Next week I play the Hurricanes, so that is a definite loss for me and Mark is away to Haystack, so it will be close, that is for sure!

  9. Mattt MP Jones

That is going to be one hell of a final round of games for that group! Hurricanes in tier 2 is mental! They would have made the semi finals of tier 1 imo

Agreed, Mark was unfair a bit there I reckon, but screwed himself as well! :D

@ Darts aka Botica: I know your setup well as my one brother plays in Croatia - KnapSak.

Played dead against the Rebels this weekend, saved some energy for the Squirrels next week.

  15. Mattt MP Jones

Fair enough Droos, though you are both even imo..

I took a huge gamble and put the majority of firsts out this weekend away to the WW despite having a cup semi final. I looked good for a win, but I had 5 injuries! 5 fackin injuries. The team that finished was decimated as my 2 reserve kickers went off and my 6 had to kick for half hour lol. In the end we pulled it back to 28-28 in the last 10 minutes. Such a shame as a win would have done wonders in the league, but it is really 2 points gained for me 2 lost for Flopman as I am still on the cup of course :D so a nice bonus.

The premiership in ZIM is really intense at the moment, so much is going to change.

  16. Droos JP Rhodes

We are really looking strong atm when one looks at our top clubs compared to other similar strength nations. I agree that you have gained the 2 points there, nicely done!

As for me and the Rebels, u wrong there, he thrashes me everytime we play, like a proper hiding, on same intensities home and away. But he is autopromoting this season, so I am happy!

  17. Droos JP Rhodes

FFS I can't get my members happier than content despite being 2nd in a very tough league and consistently winning my Monday friendlies, I just don't get it!

  18. Squeaks ZW Poole

Beat teams that are better then you...

  19. Mattt MP Jones

Yea that will help. They probably expect you to be in the top 2 of your league, maybe even winning it, which won't help. You have to exceed their expectation to get a boost.Moving to top/beating the Rebels would help a lot, plus a few Monday friendly wins against a few big ones.

Do you guys make many members? I had started losing some, but since I have started winning again, high contentment now and I pulled in 16 this week!!

  20. Droos JP Rhodes

I average +- 10 a week consistently, even with my idiot members being so stuck up!

I win all my Monday friendlies against more or less equal opposition in the tourny I play in and I am second in the league with no way of winning, so they can just fuck off in that case tbh!
