some of the best managers in the game, you mean guys who have a balanced 11 1-11. Of course they will say that they have been playing for years like me. They can have 7 batsmen all of the same standard if the could afford the wages.

If you are playing in not div I or div II and you can only afford say 280K in wages

2X 70K Bowlers
1X 50K balanced/batting allrounder
2x 15-20k batsmen

with a whole heap of strong players Is the way to go


The only time you should consider a bowling allrounder is when you have 1 spot left to fill your number 7 or 8 and you think you need to bolster the tail batting and bowling.

The only time i would grab one is if it was a bargain on the TM, I wouldnt go out of my way looking for one and paying overs like I would for a class bowler or pure allrounder


btw I dont consider someone who is quality/wonderful a bowling allrounder

strong/wonderful would be a bowling allrounder
or Exceptional/elite

 

I'm not debating that I am saying goodluck getting 5 gun bowlers and a top heavy batting lineup

I've never have had 5 bowlers who can rip through a lineup all of the same skill level, the closest i have is 4 now.

I doubt Das has had 5
Eggman has never had 5 IIRC


You have to compensate because if you do have 5 gun bowlers odds are unless you have played for 10+ seasons you dont have the funds to have an equally good batting lineup

so you part with a specialist bowler and pick up someone who bats aswell or better then they bowl and use them in the latter overs.

no it isnt, his bowlers bar 2 are on average the same skill as what most div II (which is where he should be) teams would have for their bowlers. Find me a team who has 5 bowlers of a skill better then the "average" for the division they are in or should be in

 

you said teams want to carry 5 bowlers

you are still yet to show my a team with 5 "gun" bowlers with respect to their division and the team

 

but you also said a top heavy lineup and 5 genuine options. So by that you are inferring that in order to get a good team quickly you need 5 bowlers and 3 batsmen, show me a team with that make up doing well?

Das has exactly what i said once you have been playing long enough you get alot of batting depth and 0 bowling allrounders.

 

It is a good balance for the national scene but you have to have so much cash and "wage budget" to buy a club team like that and maintain it that is what i am getting at. If you are newer to the game you dont need 5 bowlers on par with the division only once you hit div I and Div II this is the case.
