Any of you kents watched it? I'm midway through season 3 at the moment and love it tbh.

Would quite like to expand its viewership leading up to my mafia game as well. I should comfortably finish the series by then but will likely keep it restricted to a season 1 game story-wise.

Adama has to be the coolest character of all time. Constantly a boss.

Not really my kind of Sci-Fi. Will probably watch it eventually though.

    Cribbage is a toaster IMO.

I watched it on and off when it used to be on TV on a saturday IIRC but felt that at certain points it moved really slowly and ended up changing channels before getting hooked. BUT WHEN I GOT HOOKED I REALLY DID GET HOOKED

    You'd like Sanctuary.

I wasn't particularly keen on it at all until one of my mates who has pretty similar taste to me recommended the series to me. It isn't really something I think I'd have picked up without anyone actually saying to me that I'd like it because it has no real immediate appeal.

I mean the show has a silly name. It is associated with an early camp sci-fi. It isn't particularly well marketed.

But all of those things withstanding the show itself is remarkably well made. I've heard that the mini series that introduces you to the show isn't all that great and I actually started on season 1 epiosde 1 where you have to piece a few things together yourself, but that episode is really really excellent so even if you are slightly confused that confusion doesn't last very long at all.

Did anyone else who has watched the show watched the mini series before the episodes? Would you recommend others do the same? Personally I'd say start with Season 1 Episode 1 and don't worry about the mini series.

Everything I've heard about it suggests it's absolutely awful.

    you're absolutely awful. it's awesome.

I've watched it through oncee. It starts of great. Edward James Olmos is a beast, Gaius is the most interesting character, Cnl Tigh is a bad ass...but after a while you can tell that they are just making up shit on the spot. It got waaaaaaay too religious too. Characters are mostly unlikeable, except for the ones I've mentioned, and even then EJO becomes a pussy as the show goes on. I hate the President too, they try to portray her as a good character, but she's just a fucking dictator.

Overall, it starts of great, and then just goes to being shit. I'd give it 6/10, and rank it as the worst sci fi I've watched all the way through.

Oh the mini series is the best part. It should be watched first, it's like the first episode.

The season 2 religious stuff is pretty odd IMO and I always felt that the president was open to interpretation of being good or evil. Well that is until about season 3 where she seemingly is seen as one of the heroes.

The president is a pretty fun character to hate early on but as her character changes she becomes much less interesting. Should've killed her IMO.

Season 3 is pretty much where they just start wanking all the religious things all over the audience. It's pathetic, because it's clearly the worst part of the show, but it takes centre stage. You can also tell they just didn't know what to do with the Cylons, and their objectives change almost as much as a ragging chick's moodswings.

I'm a pretty big fan of Sci Fi shows though. Firefly is my 2nd favourite show of all time, Farscape and SG1 are right up there too.

  15. Athlai JJD Heads

I enjoyed Farscape and earlier Stargate but I'd say Battlestar is superior to both.

I always preferred Buck Rogers in the 24th Century for my overtly camp 70s Sci-Fi.

Also, is this better than Babylon 5?

  17. Athlai JJD Heads

Haven't seen Babylon 5 will make a point of doing so soon.

  18. HeathDavisSpeed HT Davis

I remember really liking Babylon 5 at the time, but wow - its nearly 20 years old now. Incredible.

  19. Alec AD Funkotron

I wanted to watch Babylon 5. I remember reading about comparisons between it and BG, and it said that B5 had it's story planned out from the start and mostly stuck to it. Sounds like a winner here.

If you obtain Babylon 5 by some means, I wouldn't mind a borrow of it at some point.
