Yeah, his mum and I are first cousins. Really hoping he makes his NRL debut this week. With L'Estrange gone Jacko has a really good chance of getting a bench spot and sharing the hooking role with Aubusson.
Just found out my aunt and uncle (Jackos grandparents) jumped on a plane to head over to NZ today so maybe they've been given a whisper about something too.
He's not much of a dummy half though IMO. Wouldn't be surprised if Pearce slotted into dummy half & Hastings into the halves when he comes on.
Dummy half at junior levels at First Grade are completely different though, you just don't get the same freedom from dummy half in the top grade. Also just no having that experience of playing in first grade & having an understanding of what's required from the position. It's things like knowing how to bring players onto the ball, knowing what you're looking for when you're jumping out of dummy half & knowing what structures you're trying to provide the side from dummy half. Aubbo might not have all the technical abilities to be good at the position but at least he's experienced & knows all the teams plays/calls. Watched Hastings for the Jets a few weeks back and thought he was struggling a bit at dummy half but as soon as Taumata went off & he was shifted to the halves he was immense, won the game for them.
Obviously U/16's is in a different universe to NRL level. Just saying he has some skills in that position and he isn't purely just a half back and junior level he was equally adept at half or hooker. You can make a similar argument about throwing a rookie into the NRL half-back position. Either way, at half or hooker, if he gets a run it'll be a big challenge for him.
Nah that was just on the back of shit mail that he might play in the Tigers game last week, it's a hamstring inury so there's no chance they'll try to rush him back.
Jackson is playing NSW Cup today, I'm guessing Friend's hammy has recovered and he'll be a late inclusion. Also Remi Casty is in the reggies too, SBW could be another late addition to the squad.
Oh sweet. He'll be in for sure. SBW a chance of playing too? Or did he just want a free holiday to the homeland?
I imagine one of the 20's players will be there as cover, probably Meehan as Robbo said he was likely to get some more games leading into the finals.
