Given the massive length of a season (25 rounds), whoever sims this is probably going to take at least 6 months to get through it, and quite possibly closer to a year. I tend to think that these competitions get stale when the cricketers involved really don't have abilities that match their real life ones anymore, so keep in mind while drafting that there will be a database update after Round 13. If the season drags on longer than anticipated, or if we feel the competition has grown "dated", there may be further, more regularly database updates. I've cleared this all with Athlai. I thought I'd let you all know now so we didn't get any complaints when it happened about "not drafting for that". Draft keeping in mind that the abilities of your players may change a little as the season progresses.
Why don't we just alter the structure of the competition so it's less than 25 rounds? Two conferences of 13, 12 games each, top four teams in each go through to straight knockout based on seeding? Conferences decided based on Cribbbot ranking.
I suggested that first; Athlai was keen on a full season where everyone plays everyone. He has a point in a way that if you developed a fierce rivalry with someone and then didn't get to play them, it'd kinda suck.
Plus, with 26 teams, if you split that into 2 pools you'd have 2 byes every week. Having an even number of teams and then still having byes always feels like the worst kind of administrative error.
You could do a RL World Cup style cross pool match. The matches should be pretty competitive too as the same ranked team would have a bye in each conference. Not saying that conferences is better but that would be a potential solution.
