Just gives the other provinces an opportunity to trial more players really. How many players do you actually have that would play in other trials? Flash, Tarty (and as NSW selector I do not mind at all if I get to trial two extra players..), Paddy (Rusty I'm sure will love the opportunity to play King, Paddy and Bradford all in the trials), yourself (Britain have players coming out of their arse) and Skippos (see your brackets but replace Britain with NZ).
But we're not playing PC this season. AFAIK we're going to have a side in the PCDIY. Just seems a bit needless to have trial match for that.
Some of the larger associations are getting to the point where they would have a squad if they merged. ND + Auckland might be a goer for example.
Yeah fair enough. If it actually helps things I'm all for it. Just didn't want us to needlessly make thing awkward and potentially detrimental to other provinces.
Yeah but even if you did manage to merge ND+Auckland and come up with an appropriate name for them, what would you call the other half of the players? What we really need is shitloads more New Zealanders so Wellington, CD, Auckland, ND and a South Island side can all play separately in the PC. Ahh the dream.
It helps Queensland have their own trial, if they want it. If Rusty doesn't want his own trial and would rather just play Asia then you won't be used.
If there were two Queensland sides playing you'd almost certainly play I reckon. Might even play if there was only one because Rusty would rest the certainties.
Thought in retrospect, I did manage to play 1 first XI match last season (admittedly because of injuries) so don't mind me.
Right now something like McGrath Dafter Hornby Verigotta Warrington (5) Clough Nova (4) Ardley+ Martyn (3) Howe* (2) Edwards (1) Luffman Ames Fittaman Deane (4) Morris+ Force Gbagbo Logan (5) Dyer (3) Ridd (2) Blunder (1) Dyer, Fittaman could make either side but for obvious reasons they have no real connection to anywhere in England, so I put them where they fit. And obviously it'd be up to Callum who he wants to trial, e.g. there may be no point in playing Ardley as Morris is obviously our keeper and Raftery is his deputy anyway, so maybe he plays another batsman and Veri keeps.
Little point playing another batsman if he's just going to bat 8 IMO; might as well stick in a specialist gloveman so the bowlers get the returns they deserve. Ardley making his FC debut would be slightly shady, but the rest of those sides look fine. Pretty sure the lot of them have played FC cricket before actually, so it's just a wicket keeping thing. Ardley is only two injuries away from playing BS I guess. Actually, where is Graham from anyway?
