FORMAT Swiss Tournament Swiss - Equal play time to participants, pairs players with others of similar skill level, and determines a winner in as few rounds as possible. They're essentially smarter, abbreviated round robins. Points Match wins are awarded 1 point, ties are 0.5 points. For this reason, ensure all three games are completed in the best of three. In the event of an overall tie, e.g 1.5 points each, do not play a further round to determine the winner. After each round, players are grouped by score. The top and bottom half of each group is then paired (same method as the first round), but steps are taken to ensure there are no rematches. Players float up or down between groups if necessary. When there's an odd number of players, a bye is awarded to the lowest ranked player who has not yet received one. Final Results Players are ranked by score at the conclusion of the tournament. Note: Number of rounds may be increased later on. Basically I chose this format so that there isn't a case of people getting knocked out early and having no games to play until the tournament ends a month later. I was planning on that. Need to finalize the numbers first. Will probably go with single elimination because double takes way too long to finish as we saw in the YGO sim, even though it's more fair since we're using random teams. Ideally I'm looking for 16 people so we don't need to randomize seeds.
wrt random team battles i did one last night where my best was like a geodude and irids got white kyurem and suicune - could I propose that it was a best of 3 thing each time - just to minimise the chance of someone getting a OP hand it it not being skill that wins
Agreed, best of 3 would be best. I've noticed it too with unbalanced teams occasionaly. Plus the fact it doesn't make all pokemon lv100 - they're always random levels.
