Did it all in rugby. Captained the All Blacks and was a colossus in rugby administration in NZ. Helped stop the All Blacks becoming a rebel professional team in the mid-1990s. 2005 New Zealander of the Year for leading NZ's successful bid to host the 2011 Rugby World Cup. As a player he had a tireless work rate and was a fierce tackler. His career was cut short at the age of 26 due to too many concussions. About the time Michael Jones burst onto the scene. RIP
