Is SBW in the frame for a run on position yet or is he still riding the pine?

  3. Notsure SM Green

It's him vs Nonu and SBW has been playing better. A real form vs experience selection.

  4. Jabba HJ Bots

SBW isn't ready defensively to play 12. His best shot is on the wing imho

  5. Squeaks ZW Poole

SBW WILL be the run on number 12!

30-man squad for tests against Ireland:

New Zealand: Andrew Hore, Keven Mealamu, Wyatt Crockett, Ben Franks, Owen Franks, Ben Tameifuna, Tony Woodcock, Brodie Retallick, Luke Romano, Samuel Whitelock, Ali Williams, Sam Cane, Richie McCaw (captain), Kieran Read, Adam Thomson, Victor Vito, Aaron Smith, Piri Weepu, Daniel Carter, Aaron Cruden, Beauden Barrett, Tamati Ellison, Ma'a Nonu, Conrad Smith, Sonny Bill Williams, Israel Dagg, Hosea Gear, Zac Guildford, Ben Smith, Julian Savea.

  7. Gazza GJ Weaver

Weepu is gay. Savea to start please

  8. kingdamo DRP Taylor

Good to see Aaron Smith in the team!

Obviously huge debate over the Weepu in, Ellis out thing. Hansen's decided to go with the player that is out of form but can cover 2 positions rather than a player who can't pass for shit. I'm not going to debate until after I see Weepu play in the black jersey, who knows, he could get man of the match. Aaron Smith is there also which is good. Good to see some new boys.

Still have the likes of Ali but I said it awhile back that it seemed clear that Hansen was sticking with those boys.

Good to see Gear in (not liking the Guildford being there but then again Jane is injured so can't complain)

Very exciting to see how the new boys will do. A tad surprised to see Romano there but I guess I saw it coming.

5 props is a bit excessive though????

    I thought they'd only go with 4.

  11. Darts CB Darts

Ben Tameifuna will be there for the experience

  12. Notsure SM Green

Why does Weepu need to cover 10 if you already have 3 first fives? Wouldn't you just pick Ellis and Weepu and not pick Barrett?

  13. Gazza GJ Weaver

Nah pick Barrett, pick Smith, drop Weepu

  14. Jabba HJ Bots

Weepu is there because he is awesome for the ABs

similar scenarios happen all the time in cricket. If someone averages 60 last season in tests but only 25 in FC currently do you drop him?

  15. Hurricane JD Hurricane

thought weepu was in there as number 2 goal kicker more than anything.

  16. Rego RS Hutchinson

I wonder if Hansen will start Weepu or Smith....

The 22 (that I reckon Hansen will pick - not necessarily my 22)

    1. Tony Woodcock
    2. Andrew Hore
    3. Owen Franks
    4. Sam Whitelock
    5. Ali Williams (hmmm)
    6. Adam Thomson
    7. Richie McCaw
    8. Kieran Read
    9. Aaron Smith
    10. Daniel Carter
    11. Hosea Gear
    12. Ma'a Nonu
    13. Conrad Smith
    14. Julian Savea (this is a tough one tbh)
    15. Israel Dagg

    16. Keven Mealamu
    17. Ben Franks
    18. Brodie Retallick
    19. Victor Vito
    20. Piri Weepu
    21. Aaron Cruden
    22. I can't decide tbh.

It's tough. Will Hansen play a few of the new blokes (Smith) etc.

That right wing could go to anyone. Savea being a lefty of course and a newbie. I mean obviously it would have been Jane if he didn't get injured. Dagg could play right wing and then Ben Smith at fullback. It's really hard to know what they'll do.

  17. Jabba HJ Bots

Ben Smith can play wing really well.

  18. Jabba HJ Bots

I like most of that team though

Reckon halfback and the wings are only spots up for grabs

    Hore should be the hooker

  19. Rego RS Hutchinson

Yeah it's just I don't think they'll start him there. Ben Smith will probably be no. 22 being able to cover several positions. Either him or SBW (hate him)

If Ben Smith doesn't start at FB he won't be in the starting 15 IMO.

Ellison can cover wing/ fullback as well now that I think about it. A few utilities to choose from bench wise.

  20. Jabba HJ Bots

    I disagree

with Jane out I'd like to see Gear one side and Smith on the other

Having a "safe" winger really is advantageous over 2 destructive offensive wingers
