hahaha scott dureau come on man. i barely watched any league this past year and my opinion are almost exclusively formed based on what julian and cribb say but thats woeful dude
Not exactly many better scrum halves available at this point, had a great season with Catalan as well
And Adrian Morley was a 2nd choice prop before he left for the rooster. Lesley Vainikolo got let go because he was injured. Doesn't mean they don't come good
This way of thinking works if said player hasn't played in the NRL. Dureau was barely first grade standard in Australia.
Guess what, consistent Rugby can sometimes improve a player, who would have thought that actually playing can bring the best out in a player
He didn't play week in week out in Australia? Guess what, there's a thing called reserve grade, and that's where he spent half his time. He still played every week. Rubbish pick this early in the draft.
Not really imo different styles though, SL can be more creative but the average state cup forward pack would have it over average SL pack, the line speed and wemrestle are much less developed to which is a large part of why halves from our comp litter the SL imo they get so much more time to work so they excel generally despite struggling over here
But then they always go back to the nrl , better players, the pack issue is how they get trained like you say, although I do think super league has got a lot better In that area over the last 5/10 years Hense the number of English forwards that will be in ine nrl by next season
Super League is legitimately barely above QLD and NSW Cup. Particularly once you get past the couple of top clubs.
NRL wasn't much better this year, they just have a better feeder system and bigger pool of talent to go from
Not the point. There are still several halves better than Dureau still available. Dureau came through the NRL feeder system, and turned out to not be good enough to be a consistent NRL halfback. Now he is going well in the SL. I don't know what argument you're going with here.
