A thirty-round, sixteen-team competition will be run in the offseason. It'll take just under two weeks to complete in real time and there will be 244 games in total. The squads will be based on Season 8 contracts (EDIT: Season 9 contracts now) with each Bannerman Shield team essentially fielding two club cricket teams of approximately equal strength. Reasons for the competition's existance To fill in the gap between seasons. To help bridge the gap between First Class and Second Class cricket. To give fringe players a chance to show they can step up. To get some cricket in - we have a stack of members who have been around for a while but have played very little cricket due to the drawn-out simming process. How can it be done so fast? Lineups are constant, so I don't have to wait for selectors. I won't be posting results on the stats site, just on the forum. I won't be updating simming averages and rankings every round. I won't be simming the games manually; I'll be setting them as CPU v CPU.
Gemmell to whinge about this delaying the Gamblers dominance before I correct him and say it won't delay the season at all in 3, 2, 1...
Sweet sounds good, loving that teams have to split up aswell. Will our scores and wickets count to our averages and such?
I have some now, but they're provisional... they might change based on activity, new sign-ups, requests etc.
This is season 8 sides. I'm hoping for Gemmelllland side, but Cribb is doing Dempsey and Wilson teams.
