I'm not overdramatic, I'm just frustrated that three of my actives are being poached by clubs already bursting with actives and every new dude I refer to the sim signs elsewhere. A bit like Cribb with his whole keeper movement obsession, I'm like that with activity - the sim is no good if there are 2 clubs and 2 bots, I'd much prefer 4 slightly weaker clubs. At this rate the RBs will fold and no doubt the Firebirds should consider it. That's my point - this 'determined to recruit the elite active team' kind of psyche of both the bears and bulls is just going to destruct the sim and I'm trying to prevent it. I'm also trying to find someone else to take over the RBs so I can say these sorts of things and it not look like I'm being a self-serving git.
We've poached no one really. We were on death row and we got Nino to help me out and lift the squad for Season 3, and it worked. We became active. We've approached one poster from another squad. He barely posts at the team he plays for, but is very active on the site itself. We'd be rapt to have him. Aside from that, we've always been happy to let the new teams grab posters. I just wanted one or two new faces for Season 4. Skip - for the record - we've approached two guys who are not involved in the sim and made them offers - these types of moves are the main ones we'll be making for the forseeable future, barring a mass exodus of my players to rival clubs.
Yeah I'm never going to begrudge a club the opportunity to sign someone they've referred to the sim, don't worry. That's fine I'm going to go on a recruiting drive for the sim anyway so hopefully these problems go away.
Just remember that not so long ago the Bears were on the canvas. It's quite forseeable that other teams can do exactly the same as we have.
As I said to someone in private earlier - I have no intention to ensure that every club thrives - far from it. I just want all 4 to be in a situation where they can survive, and at the moment only 2 are. I've got no issue with dominance as long as clubs don't fold because of it.
The thing about the Bears that restored them was you taking control, tbf. You brought plenty of vipers & personal 'allies' into the bears and changed their image. No doubt, someone with a different 'clique' would do wonders for the firebirds/rbs - but unfortunately everyone is now so attached to the bulls and bears nobody will leave there to do what you did, nor is there an afl fan from within who could.
There's a million people on the site who'd get actively involved if you got someone to go there and run the ship though. You just need someone to get things up and running and there's lots of influential people who will follow and help with recruitment. The potential net worth of guys like Brett, Harps, Howe, Cribb, TKP, Weeman and whoever else as footsoldiers behind a general can't be undersold. You just need a face there to insert a culture. There's definitely an untapped corner of cricsim as far as AFLSim participation goes. You just need the right heads of the RB's and Firebirds to tap into them. And don't be afraid to get a newbie with a bit of can-do to do it.
