I think it's a good move bringing the game to NZ. What's the hype like over there?

So many people here. Gonna be close to a sellout I reckon

    whats the stadium capacity ?

Pretty sick, if I try and go to a close to sold out game I'd probably be sitting 4th tier in Bay 20 on the stadium map.

    36,000-ish?

    :surprise:

However, I think they'll soon see diminishing attendances if they over do it. Whilst I'd go to both games, I doubt many locals would. ANZAC Day every year is a bloody good idea though IMO.

34500. They've sold over 20000 so far and hope for about 27000 so nearly sold out.

    Hype starting to build.

Great news! AFL could easily ascend in NZ.

Mean game. St. Kilda's strip was awesome

Sydney look nothing like the team they were last season, tbh.

They're pretty small, but I'd say medium would be fine.

Like 170 to buy inc. shipping :( They were 150 at the stadium but I didn't know what size to get

    Awful game.

22,550 turnout, and I doubt they'll ever get more than that. Perfect conditions for AFL in Wellington tonight. Dry and absolutely no wind. The ground was still damp though from rain earlier in the week.

I can only assume that the playing surface at the Wetspack is smaller than standard as there was absolutely no space for the players. Only once in the whole game did someone get in a run long enough that they had to bounce the ball. There was some woeful handling and even worse kicking - aimless kicks to opposition players.

The best advert for the AFL was the crowd as the atmosphere was excellent. Better than you get for any game of rugby (including All Blacks games) at the stadium.

It was also great to finally see a sport that the Wetspack Stadium is ideally suited for - the view was great.

Ground is smaller than the SCG (which is small as it is).

It's only a fraction smaller than the MCG apparently. Would have just been Sydney tbh, they do that to teams. Was surprising to see the AFL send them over tbh.

    Are you sure?

Yeah. I thought so. No one had any time on the ball, which made the game really scrappy. Most accurate kicks went to a contest - very few 'free' marks at all and as I said, no running metres were available, really.

That's what they said before the start of the game. It's 1m from goal to goal, but something like 5m skinnier than the SCG.
Yeah, probably helped Sydney considering they are used to that type of play.

It is DEFINITELY smaller than the MCG. I'd say it's smaller than the SCG. Wonder if the dimensions are on-line anywhere.
