Does best reserve side mean anything? Normally that just means you recruited too many people, none of which are that good.
It shows you have decent depth. Ok the Crabs are not going that well in first grade this season but they'll be 2nd next season.
Having the best reserve side shows our improvement because reserve grade started halfway through the season.
And yeah, players do not walk into these teams. GB have over 50 players available so making the second XV is hardly child's play.
Is it really much? That is almost 25% of all sign-ups. It isn't far off being the case. Anyone who isn't inactive will make these sides pretty much. If/when expansion happens these sides will become stronger and are probably getting stronger anyway but at present it is no real achievement to make these sides.
Anyone who isn't inactive will actually be a good player, though, and play well for their club side. Howe, for example, is 17th on the post ranks. Furball is 19th, and GIMH is 36th. These are all GB A regulars - it's not just a case of registering and finding yourself in the side.
You have just taken the best examples there though. Those 3 are obviously going to go onto to be some of the top players and more than likely get full honours. About a third of the GB A side are more or less inactive or certainly not very active.
I can only see three inactives in the whole side. And without injuries, two of them would be replaced.
Yeah there are only a few completely inactive but there are quite a few who don't have very high post counts either. Anyway, if people want to view getting into A sides as a great achievement then fine. Each to their own.
It's not a "great achievement" but it's certainly indicative of who the next successes are going to be in SR.
