  1. Baxter MJ Deane

And hey, if goals and assists are all that matter are you ready to concede that Walcott's better than Bale?

  2. Verigoat S Verigotta

    They arn't though

My point is Rooney bring more in the areas that arn't connected to goals an assists, I was stating that not only is he better there, but hes got better stats in the part that Tevez is meant to be better at, as the actual striker

Rooneys overrated yet practically wins the game single handedly vs our title challenger.

Hes a constant performer, the only way I can even imagine someone could come up with the idea of him being overrated is if they just use his England form, and tbh, the whole England team has been wank so it's unlikely

  3. Baxter MJ Deane

And I, to be frank, don't agree.

  4. Riddy JH Ridd

    Agree with veri

  5. Slyza N Hunt

    1. Robin van Persie
    2. Luis Suarez
    3. Sergio Aguero
    4. Wayne Rooney
    5. Demba Ba

    My top 5

  6. Droos JP Rhodes

  7. Himannv LV Himann

Yeah, I agree with the list in the OP as well. I might have Rooney a bit higher if we were considering overall play, but for their abilities as a striker alone it looks bang on.

    For me its:
    1. RVP
    2. Walcott
    3. Suarez
    4. Agerro
    5. Rooney

Mine is based on how important they have been for there team this year

  9. Marto RK Fittaman

    5. Aguero
    4. Michu
    3. Rooney
    2. Suarez
    1. Van Persie

  10. Magic AJ Parker

I think RVP is quite comfortably the best striker in the EPL, I'd be more interested to see who people thought was the best striker in the world. Falcao or RVP?

  11. Lukic L Popovic

Falcao is better imo. Most effective player in his set role in all of football. He just the prototypical striker.

Personally I'd take Suarez before RVP. Suarez imo has been the best player in the epl this season.

  12. danskinpaul PT Danskin

    suarez
    ba
    michu
    van persie
    tevez

  13. Riddy JH Ridd

  14. mouse MJ Edwards

If you was Swansea, would you be tempted to cash in on Michu? He's stock is so high at the moment and would be able to generate some serious cash.

  15. PienaarColada DH Mulray

Not after half a season, I wouldn't. Might as well see where he can take the team before deciding to make a profit and Swansea are in good shape financially, as far as I know.

It's difficult to simply say that one striker is better than another, cause there are so many different types of strikers. Rooney and Van Persie are 2 very different strikers, and in terms of consistently scoring you'd take van Persie over Rooney, but in terms of team playing, you'd take Rooney over van Persie, simply cause van Persie wouldn't score as many or have as many chances without the rest of the team. And another striker who is very different to Rooney, but is awesome at what he does, is Berbatov. His only issue is that there is an awful lot he doesn't do, but he's top class at what he does do.

Also, I think Defoe has been underrated recently. He really is a top striker.

  17. Callum CJ Laing

RVP managed rather well last season without an awesome team behind him.

  18. loganb JEM Logan

Yeah, but the team were good enough to give him enough service to be good. Tbf, the team weren't exactly horrific. If you put van Persie in a team that didn't provide as many opportunities, he wouldn't score as many, but I think Rooney is more likely to pick the bal up and make something happen, and inspire a team.

  19. mouse MJ Edwards

Yeah, was thinking at the end of the season, should have stated that.

  20. Uppercut CB Faldo

Nah you've got it the wrong way round. Rooney's strengths are positioning and finishing. Finds space between the lines, makes great runs to get on the end of crosses unchecked and hardly ever misses when he gets a chance. Tends to do it in the big games, too.

But his technique is properly bad, takes some obscene first touches and messes up so, so many simple passes. Sometimes he just looks plainly unfit too. I don't think there's a comparison between him and RVP and I think Fergie knows it too. Tevez vs. Rooney a more interesting comparison.
