Obviously injuries have played a big role but Kompany hasn't lived up to his reputation for a season and a half now. It's weird saying that he's overrated now because he was disgustingly under-appreciated before Citeh were title challengers. I think he peaked before most people realised he was good.
Yes, I maybe biased towards Belgian players but regardless of his nationality, Kompany is still the best CB in the league.
It helps that they've had a settled partnership this season Kompany was at his best playing along side Lescott, they worked well and formed a good understanding... Recently Kompany has been injured a fair bit and when he's come back, hasn't settled with a partnership It can be argued easily as a partnership Arsenal CB's > Kompany and whoever plays along side him... But as an individual player, Kompany > any other CB, but football is all about partnership and team, and rarely about an individual.
Luis Suarez - outrageous this season in every way. Wayne Rooney - ultra-versatile, can do anything. Amazing workrate, scores and assists non-stop. Sergio Aguero - see Suarez, only lesser. Yaya Toure - big beast of a bloke, strong, great short passer, surges forward and is hard to stop. Excellent free kicks and has scored so many from open play too. Eden Hazard - is the life of Chelsea's side going forward and can so frequently produce amazing moments that very few others in the world can. So fast and agile and has been scoring freely.
