Welker pleased with first season at Vipers

Much has been said about the successful recruitment of WC Welker and GJ Weaver during the off-season and it has become pretty clear as to why there has been so much excitement around VipersHQ. The inclusion of these two players has been extremely effective and made the Vipers a serious title threat. WC Welker in particular has been setting the world on fire.

Currently averaging 16.41 and taking 59 wickets in 8 matches in the Bannerman Shield this season, Welker has really stood up from past seasons. Admittedly, Welker’s rapid rise began in Season 10 where he performed brilliantly for the Cyclones and started to become noticed in the CricSim community.

The Vipers have appreciated Welker’s continued rise and Welker has enjoyed joining the club from the Cyclones.

“The move to Vipers has been really great, I've settled in really well and my performances are reflecting that. I think it has helped my performance because I'm no longer relied upon to take wickets so there is less pressure on me to do well.”

It is probably safe to say that this pressure that was once on Welker’s shoulders was a burden and coming to the Vipers, has really lifted this burden. There was a lot said about Welker’s move and it was slightly controversial. Many people felt that he was leaving the Cyclones in a bad manner and was making a bad name to himself. However, Welker disagrees and believes he left the club in a fine manner and it was more his competitive nature causing him grief.

“Towards the end of my stint at the Cyclones things were starting to get fairly hasty but I like to think of that as my competitive attitude taking over and getting frustrated with results on the pitch. At the end of the day I gave them a fair amount of notice of my departure and I'd like to think there is no bad blood between them and myself.”

With all controversy aside, Welker’s success in Season 11 has provided a vast amount of entertainment for the fans as well as helping the Vipers put further pressure on the competition. Welker has been pretty pleased with his form and doesn’t feel there is really anywhere else he can improve.

“My form this season has been nothing short of incredible. I'm not sure I could improve on my Bannerman Shield form.”

Having said that Welker still has a number of goals that he would like to achieve by season’s end and this is on top of his already scintillating form for the Vipers.

“It would be tough to improve in Bannerman Shield because I'm playing at such a high level already, however I would like to improve my Horrigan Cup and Provincial form. As far as goals are concerned I'm just hoping to consistently perform for Vipers.”

Welker’s next game for the Vipers is up against the Pumas where the Vipers will be up at home. It will be a difficult match with R Gee and J Torres both injured for the clash.

    Hughesy is such a gun.

Other media managers should strive to be like him.

Vipers think they're so radic00l because they win games. Wankers.

Well I am part of the CricSim Herald... I struggle to juggle both jobs though. Just my way of repaying the club. Plenty more to come before seasons end too.

What a load of shit. There was absolutely nothing controversial about his departure at all. The Cyclones appreciated him remaining with us for Season 10 eventhough he clearly wanted to join the Vipers, so that we were not completely stuck in bowling department.

It wouldn't be a story if there wasn't any hyperbole. If anything the only controversy part of his departure was the way he was supporting the Vipers most of the season.

  14. Callum CJ Laing

No there was just controversy at all. You have just completely plucked that out of your arse.

Cricsim herald hasn't done anything recently so it can't be that tough

I thought there would of been a half season review at least

  16. Hughesy JM Hughes

Yeah ok, I did. But it is more to liven up the story if anything. Articles are supposed to be interesting.

I can confirm that there are half season reviews in the making. However, that is all I believe is happening. There doesn't seem to be any editions in the making, maybe that's something we could look at.

If you want to make stuff up just be prepared to be called out on it.
