The next expansion team.

    You're in charge, What would the next expansion team be.


    - It doesn't have to be logical i.e Tasmania.
    - Which stars, Mid rangers, young guns would you get to the team. Try to have a touch of realism
    - Who's the coach
    - Colours
    - Club name

    And whatever else.

    ACT Sharks
    Teal, dark blue and white
    2 star midfielders defenders and forwards and then develop the kids around that.
    Would go for a Paul Roos type coach

    Wellington.

    Sign up as many reasonable Kiwi AFLers as possible. Maybe try and get a big name union player to convert a la Hunt/Folau, but no idea who. Would probably have to be an ace full back. Cory Jane or someone like that.

    Colours have to be Black & Gold.

    You'd probably have to include a third Perth team, then, depending on where you base it I'd have the colour and name based off of the team who gets the licence.

    Because its in Perth, I'd go after Buddy as my number 1 target, then go after a Harley Bennell and a hard inside midfielder like a Cotchin to be my captain. I'd try to get a local, but I can't think of one that's not already in WA.

    ACT would need to buck up their ideas on hosting AFL games IMO. I'm presuming Manuka Oval would be their only realistic ground to host matches at?

    I like the idea of another team in WA as well. Buddy is the obvious choice as your number 1 target. I would also include Dale Thomas because as well as being a good player his marketing power would be good for a brand new club. Harry Taylor would be next with the returning home factor and he will be able to hold down the backline and groom the next few KPD's for the next 4-5 years before he retires.

    If one of these guys falls through then Pendlebury would be next in line as he could walk straight in and captain the club.

    Paul Roos would be the ideal coach, just need to entice him to move to WA or else I would try and poach Scott Burns who is destined to be the next West Coast coach. He would have a good knowledge of most WAFL players which will help in the initial drafting phase.

    Logically I think the next two would be Tasmania then another Perth side.

    Tasmania Devils.

    Target:
    - Jack Riewoldt
    - Dale Thomas
    - James Frawley
    - Tom Bellchambers or Shane Mumford
    - Scott Gumbleton

    Pretty good spine if you could land some of them.

    Young players:
    - Liam Sumner
    - Sam Blease
    - Taylor Adams
    - Matt Dea
    - Jake Batchelor

    Mid-rangers:
    - Matt White
    - Shane Savage
    - Matt Thomas
    - Robin Nahas

    Would follow the GWS model of getting older blokes who possibly have a season left and go after the likes of Simon Black, Lenny Hayes or Kane Cornes if they retired in the near future.

    Would go after Choco Williams as coach.

    Colours would probably be similar to the old Bulldogs guernsey except instead of red, white & blue it'd be red, green & yellow. Obv a Tassie Devil in the middle too.
