A thread for us who support the clubs that aren't in the limelight all of the time, for the Port Vales, Tranmeres and Grimsbys of the football world.

Pretty hopeful that we can get a win against Tamworth today, our season's been great by recent standards and it would be nice to keep up at the top of the table.

My second team is hereford and I get to around 8 games a season.

Good win for them against Barrow last night.

It sucks in SA because after the NFD (SA's equivalent of the championship) all clubs are pretty much amateur (or if they're pro it's still like playing firsts for a cricket club in their payment of players).

I suppose it's as good a thread as any to mention it. I support a team called New Radiant SC. They're a team from Maldives and were basically my local club in many ways while growing up. Their main rivals are Victory SC. It's quite hard to follow their progress since I'm not in the country anymore, but I try and catch a few games whenever they televise it. This season they won the DDL League and President's Cup, which are the two main tournaments they're involved in.

Please don't tell me SC is Soccer Club.

  8. Frizzed WC Welker

    Why ?

  9. Eds E Ames

    Because it's a football club.

  10. Frizzed WC Welker

Never really understood why people get so worked up about what other people call things.

The SC stands for Sports Club in any case.

I don't really have a problem with people calling it "soccer" but when official clubs are named as such, it does grate.

  12. MrPrez CM Dyer

Why? If an area calls it soccer it'd be dafter to call it football club.

  13. Eds E Ames

Because it's called football. That's the official name for the game.

  14. MrPrez CM Dyer

But if it is called soccer somewhere, it is soccer there. It is no less ludicrous calling it soccer than namung your team abc soccer club.

    :fp:

No, it isn't. It's officially known as 'football'. I don't have an issue with people calling it soccer, but it should officially be known as football everywhere because that's the fucking name of it.

  17. Mariner CL Warrington

What does FIFA stand for then?

  18. MrPrez CM Dyer

In south africa, the league is called the premier soccer league. All im saying is that in a case like here in sa, it's being known as soccer like that is no less ludicrous than calling a club a soccer club.

Everyone here would say "come join my soccer club" so why not call the thing a soccer club officially.

  19. Frizzed WC Welker

It's officially known as Association Football.

    So yea.

  20. Zakaron SDR Laing

    SOCCER!!!
