    What fun.

People will probably be more surprised at the length of injuries than the amount of them however.

  3. Captain SSD Dong

Will be so happy if Harris lasts the season.

Weren't injuries really long last season?

  5. Cribbage RG Cribb

Yeah but last season was a million years ago so people will forget this and be surprised.

What I will say is that we've given you 18 man squads for a good reason; not you so can piss around and players you have no intention of using this season. You'll need them. A well selected squad will probably use all 18 players unless it's lucky with injury. Picking 'retention' players when it hasn't even been confirmed if there will be a next season at all, let alone whether it'll have any retentions in it, just wasn't a very good idea this time. Different if you're aiming for the mid-season database update with a pick but a genuine next season pick is largely a waste.

Which I didn't know until Round 3, when my strategy changed.

At least I've (generally) opted for players who've been pretty sound in respect to their injury record; at least in recent years (Napier used to be a crock, but has been pretty reliable in the last few years)

Glad I picked 4 reserve bowlers then, since if it reflects real life bowlers will go down way more than batsman. Watling is able to play as a specialist if needed though so I still have reasonable batting depth.

There are better bowlers and bowlers with better stats than milne but i want milne.

edit: in saying that milne should get a serious boost from A cricket unless I'm mixing his performances up between FC and List A.

He'll be injured for the season

So, those retired guys Phlegm? Nearly 3 years since Dravid played First Class, 2 and a half for Vaas, 2 years for Skippy and a year for Hopkins and Swann. Still surprised you didn't pick Peter Ingram or the Mug.

Yeah by the time Cribb finishes the season Dravid's grandchildren will be dead.

Still the best team in the comp.

Which comp would this be? A competition to name as many retirees as possible? I hope you guys are sponsored by a pharmaceutical company as you're gonna need a whole load of prescription medication to get 11 guys in a condition to play week after week. I'd have a hip replacement surgeon on standby for your guys too.

We'll be fine. I've got Watling, which means I'm unbeatable.

You do have Watling. You also have a couple of other useful Kiwis. Shame your knowledge of the rest of the world's cricket seems to have ended somewhere around 2004.

I exaggerate slightly. I'm guessing you watched an illegal stream of some Sri Lankan cricket at some point too.

When was the last time you watched Samiullah Khan play?

  15. HeathDavisSpeed HT Davis

That time I went over to the University of Karachi on business, I made sure to stop by and watch a few games of first class cricket whilst there.

    Place any bets?

  17. HeathDavisSpeed HT Davis

Yep. Popped down the local Karachi TAB and put a cool five-hundy on at least half your team being injured at least once during the tournament. The odds were only $1.01, but still - why turn down free money?

  18. Phlegm SP Phlegm

Trusting betting odds in Pakistan is a rookie mistake.

  19. HeathDavisSpeed HT Davis

It would only be a rookie mistake if it was in a market which could be fixed. And you sure as hell can't fix the injury problems of your bunch of geriatrics.

  20. Phlegm SP Phlegm

My geriatrics aren't the injury risks. Look at my fast bowlers.

I've been taking notes from the pre-drug testing era in baseball and my players will be fine, and even if they're not they will still account for your mediocre team before they get stretchered off.
