wonder if theyll choke as badly as the last time they were in a final

Reckon they'll get pumped if they have to travel to the Republic.

Have a good opportunity if they end up at home.

I can't see the Sharks beating the Chiefs with all the travel they would have to do.

Really hope the Sharks get up over the Stormers, they definitely play a better brand of rugby than the Stormers IMO.

You don't need an IMO on that one.

I can't understand why the Stormers are so boring anyway, do they still have Habana, Juan de Jongh, de Villiers and Aplon? Plenty of firepower there...

  7. Notsure SM Green

Yeah, they do but some of those players aren't what they were.

I was listening to the radio commentary of a club game today. And he was talking about a player who a centre "3 quarter". I have heard of a wing "3 quarter' a million times but not a centre 3/4. Is this a common expression that somehow I haven't heard until now?

what are the origins of the 3 quarter expression?.

That's correct, if you were listening in the late 1800's. Still is "correct" but a very old naming. I think people in France still might say it.

Probably some old fart trying to be creative.

I mean in NZ we use fractions, but different ones of course.

    History lesson over.

The origins of the three-quarter expression is that a three-quarter stands 3/4 of the way back. Half way between the half-back and the full back and slightly behind the five eight. The three quarters was the final position added to rugby as I think before there were only forwards, the fullback, halfback and first five. I think Scotland brought in the third three quarter and New Zealand popularized having four three quarters and only 8 forwards with the Originals tour. The term is more used in league now.

ANother reason I want the Sharks to beat the Stormers is because I  Michalak. I know I'm supposed to hate him as a Kiwi but yeah...

I would have watched the link if Paul the Octopus had come back to life and was predicting a winner.

If the Chiefs do end up winning by a point I'll argue that Rugby Challenge's simulation is better than anything Paul the Octopus came up with. ;)

I did laugh when Michalak kicked the conversion and celebrated like he'd given the Sharks the lead, only to them have the game end and the Chiefs win by a point.

Mighty Chiefs looking good for our first title.

Besides the first 5 minutes, the Sharks haven't looked worthy of winning the title. Far too many errors, little ball/territory, dominated at the breakdown...Lambie in particular looks like a player returning from injury that should be eased back into the side than a title winning fullback.
