    I would be thrilled to see a USA/Canada team. It would be amazing for rugby in North America. Rugby has real grass roots support there as oppossed to cricket. Rugby should be actively targeting North America with a growth strategy. When I went to school in Chicago - buttfuck towns would have a rugby team around chicago and you would get in a bus and go play against them. The sport has real potential there but they need a local team that can win and neither canada nor the USA are ever going to get there by themselves. A joint team is the ticket.

    And how good would it be to see Kleeburger and people of that ilk turning out to play.

    Yeah I agree. I love how much rugby is developing in North America. It's just the logistics is a problem more than anything.

    an nz competition with the australian sides would also be stepping into the ITM cup world some what

    (Essentially it would be nz sides plus only the reds and brumbies to meaningfully compete so it would feel like a nz competition when you looked at the leaderboard each week.)

    flight time to Joburg south africa is 20 hours
    Flight time to san francisco/LA 13 hours and then another 3-5 hours to get to your specific destination. We could insist that every game be played in LA - for travel reasons. Also due to the weather conditions LA would be best anyway as march over may see some grounds snowed under back east.

    I don't see how so? It'd be like the current format, except each team would make one trip to either Argentina or Japan.

    It'd be nuts for Argentina/Japan, yeah, but it'd be nuts for them anyway.

    Yeah that's the point. Put the SA teams with force and an argie team or two and there's essentially no point of the currie cup. From an SA perspective, it'd make no sense whatsoever.

    It's a fucking stupid idea. Just another whipping team to give away free points every weekend. SARU finally got their way with this inclusion so they can bring back the Kings and show that politics will be a part of sport in South Africa which they will force down everyone elses throats. Fuck SANZAR for allowing this, bunch of pussies got pushed over by SARU.

    I think it's a pretty shit idea to add more teams. The Super rugby season doesn't need to be any longer. If they were to expand they should include a Pacific Island team imo.
