Update – 41st minute: Just after halftime and after the first set, the Hawks on last tackle have decided to kick it downfield straight into the arms of Erschoff on the 20 metre line..he charges forward…gets to the 30 before being taken down. Fittaman now comes in for a scoot he charges it forward…he gets taken down 35 out. Robertson comes into hooker…he picks it up…OH he almost dropped it there…wait the whistle has blown..HE HAS DROPPED IT! Another crucial error by Robertson here! He for some reason got into dummy half and couldn’t get down and pick it up! The crowd ironically chanting to the sound of a donkey and Robertson is not a happy man with himself. The scrum packs and we are just 38 metres out from the Donkehs line. It comes to Taylor once again who gives it to Webber…Cambridge does a little run around and he gets the ball now and he gets taken down 30 out. Webber gets straight back into dummy half and he goes for a scoot…but the markers are not giving an inch and takes him down 27 metres out. 2nd tackle, it comes back to Hornby who gives it to Speirs, he charges it forward and he gets pulled to the ground 25 out. 3rd tackle, Hornby now…HORNBY WITH THE SCOOT…Catches the markers offside! He makes a quick 10 before being pulled down..things are picking up now on 4th, it comes back to Gayler….Gaylor throws it wide to Vago…..Vago throws it to Webber, he does a goose step…GOES ROUND THE OUTSIDE….THROWS IT TO CAMBRIDGE….Cambridge with no room to move! He steps back inside and is pulled down 8 metres out. Last tackle, it comes back to Tim Taylor…he is going up into the air….down to the wing, here we go…Ben Taylor and Popovic leap high…………………………………...IT LANDS INTO THE ARMS OF TAYLOR…HE THROWS IT TO SHRIRAM..WHO STEPS……AND SCORES!! TRY TO THE HAWKS! A brilliant piece of catching ability by Ben Taylor who throws it to shriram who is able to get the ball across the line! Brilliant start to the Hawks who now extend their lead back to 8 points with a kick to come. Shriram the try scorer looking to convert it from the sideline. This is a tough one, he looks up as the crowd cheers and boos, he hits it….but it’s fading away to the right and the score remains 14-6 to the Hawks.
Update – 43rd minute: The Hawks have the ball on last tackle in their own half after their try…they kick it downfield and it lands into the arms of Torres who charges forward…he runs up and gets taken down 35 out from his own line. Quick play the ball to Popovic who picks it up…he runs towards the sideline…fends of speirs….AND ALL OF A SUDDEN POPOVIC IS IN OPEN SPACE HERE! POPOVIC TO THE 45…TO HALFWAY….THE DEFENDERS HAVE BEEN CAUGHT OFF GUARD! HERE COMES TAYLOR…HE GRABS POPOVIC…BUT HERE COMES PERRY..POPOVIC PASSES IT TO PERRY AND HE IS AWAY NOW…PERRY TO THE 40…TO THE 30…NO ONE WILL STOP HIM AND CAN YOU BELIEVE IT THE DONKEHS HIT STRAIGHT BACK! A brilliant run by Popovic and a brilliant Donkehs try! Instead of coming in field, Popovic took the risk by running down the sideline and was able to beat the defender and caught everyone who was coming back from the kick return off guard. It’s now 14-10 with a kick to come from right in front! Dorn strikes it…and gets it in with ease. The score is now just 14-12 to the Hawks! What a game we have here!
