Winner of the GolfSim Trial Cup, HJ Bots, starting well with a birdie on the first hole with a 325 yard drive. Seven others, including Asians JA Chewie and AR Dforum achieving the same. S Vimes the only player to not make par having struggled to get onto the green.

 

No player able to take an early lead on the short second hole. CJ Evans does manage to recover from a drive that had his ball end in the rough near the hole to go one under par. A few players will be disappointed with taking one too many putts.

 

A challenging 480 yard par four hole has seen eight players end with a bogey. That's two in a row for both SM Morgan and JP Rhodes. HJ Bots also among the eight disappointed players. On the brighter side, JA Chewie and AJ Izett both take a birdie and are now two under par.

 

JP Anraad, SJ Cambridge and G Furball will be joining the leaders after going one under par on the fourth hole. JP Rhodes with yet another bogey.

 

The fifth hole is another long par four. Nine players fail to make par. Of note are SJ Cambridge, G Furball and JA Chewie. Only two players go under par on this hole. AJ Izett was one of them and is now -3. S Bakkum was the other despite missing the fairway on the drive.

 

AJ Izett with another birdie on the sixth hole, putting himself two strokes ahead of his closest competitors. JP Rhodes is having a terrible day out there with his fourth bogey.

 

JP Anraad takes advantage of a couple of bad putt by AJ Izett that would have seen him with another birdie by taking one of his own. BFP Kirk also takes his fourth bogey.

 

Not much changing with the eighth hole, a 215-yard par three. Fans of JP Rhodes relieved to see him finally doing something right and brings himself back to +3.

 

AJ Izett will be happy with another birdie on the last hole of the front nine. JP Anraad missed the fairway and had a disappointing recovery that led to him going over par. LE Schaw with his second double bogey, bringing him in line for last place with BFP Kirk.

Of the leaders BB Burger is the only one able to go under par on the tenth hole with a massive 346 yard drive. He's now -3, two behind AJ Izett and tied for second with CJ Evans. Can the local favourites catch up to the New Zealander?
