    By play do you mean actually mean play a game or just be registered during the 2008 season.

    For example say a player was injured but he was still had a contract with an NRL club in 2008 then later retired?

    Well, Sonny Fai's body was never actually found. There's no proof to say that he isn't running arond on a fijian island somewhere and would be fine playing tomorrow.

    He just wouldn't go to recovery sessions at the pool.

    I think that any player that makes their international debut after the date of rob's first post in this thread should be ineligible given it's just a matter of luck for who gets them.

    I think anyone who has played a test against France should be eligible. They are the fourth best side in the world.

    I'm not certain but i reckon in the earlier rounds someone might of picked a pommy who debuted for England in the WC but never played against Australia or NZ.
