Hopefully Brisbane. He has a PO for next year on huge dollars, and Ikin has defended him on 360. Hopefully Ikin overrules Kevvie and makes him start picking him. If not I see him going to somewhere heartbreaking like the Roosters and dominating.

It's looking like he will replace Glenn on the left edge for Brisbane, which is like replacing Steve Turner with Greg Inglis.

Yeah was just saying to my mates it was bizarre seeing Ikin say that he was the top priority signing. I was expecting to read someone like Hodgson or Johnson. Capewell is a solid first grader who puts in big efforts, but not a top tier signing.

Ikin only said he was first priority because the deal is already done. That way he immediately kicks off his stint with a win, even though he wasn't involved.

Any thoughts on where Vaughan might end up?

  5. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

Dogs is the safest bet. He's gonna be a good get for anyone who wants him, with all the shit that's happened you will be getting him for unders.

How does the suspension work with him getting sacked?
Will he still have the 8 games to serve from the start of whatever contract he gets?

  7. AVA T Delonge

    I believe so yeah

  8. jazman84 JM Eightyfour

He's too good not to get another deal. Kinda sucks for the Dragons.

  9. AVA T Delonge

Nah, given they didn't sack De Belin after this, I can't imagine they felt 'forced' to sack Vaughan. They 100% used this as an out to get out of his contract for next year.

Yeh I don't really think the Dragons care too much about their public image when it comes to players.

800k was always overs for him and definitely seeing as he hasn't really progressed since leave Canberra.

Good opportunity for them to get him and Norman off the books this year and rebuild. Not that I back them to do that well with Hook in charge.

  11. jazman84 JM Eightyfour

    Fuck, he was on $800k?
    In that case, good riddance.

Rumours Brisbane are going to give Payne Haas a 10yr contract at a million per year.

I think Payne Haas is going to be a tremendous player once he fixes his defence up but geez I don't know about making him your highest paid player for the next decade.

Most clubs only seem to be able to afford 1 player around that price tag and then another slightly lower at 800-900k... surely you've got to save that kind of money for your spine positions unless you have a once in a generation type forward and he's not that.

I get it 2yrs ago when you think the salary cap might get a big hit soon you give a guy even money across the 10yrs thinking by the end you are getting good value even if you pay slight overs to start off with. But I don't see that being the case for the next few years yet.

  14. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

I do think Haas is a once in a generation player, and I've got no issue with the deal in a way. I'd prefer to offer him 1m/yr for a 5-6 year deal, or 750-800k for a 10yr deal. Once he fixes his efforts on the goal line, which I put a lot down to shit bench rotations, he is pretty easily the best prop in the game.

  15. Lukic L Popovic

Nah we're gonna get pretty hectic inflation in Aus. Salary cap should be around 15m halfway through the deal.

    RTS officially gone.

    Best step I’ve ever seen.

  17. jazman84 JM Eightyfour

In 5 years time, $1m will be a smaller piece of the pie.

You're optimistic, I don't see where the exponential growth similar to the TV deal we signed in 2017 will come from...

PVL has already extended the same deals on the same money with Fox and Nine got a discount.

Between 2018 to 2022 the cap will have risen 7%, that would keep us inline with inflation.

Think the game is going to have to suck it up and go through some years of consolidation.

Very happy with the Connor Watson signing, we haven't had a genuine depth option for Radley for the past 2-3 years let alone a rotational option option on the bench so think this is a really good pickup. I'm surprised the Knights let him go, he hasn't been as successful at lock as I thought he would be but he's also shown really good signs in a side that's played a lot of footy on their back foot this season.

  20. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

Apparently he took less money and 1 less year to leave Knights for Easts. Pretty strange seeing all the shit off the field he does with Ponga.
