Warriors and st george after Joe.

Most likely to go to Dragons over us. Warriors want him badly because he can play lock as well as prop and thats the profile we want. We would be over the moon to have him.

Mean time Afoa is staying with us despite being told he will play reserves/injury depth. Blair may also end up riding pine if he takes up his option.

Sivo was close to debuting for Penrith before they signed him too.

This is so disingenuous. The Broncos have the most active Junior development program, of course they have the most players in the nrl. What a meaningless stat. Apart from Melbourne and the roosters, who I think have the other benifit of a long term system in place, (teams that consistently play in the same way and there for it is easy to fit players in and out) the Broncos are certainly the third most successful club in the NRL in terms of the consistency of top 8/4 performance. I think it is pretty clear that the dramatic drop in performace this year is primarily due to a massive change in culture and structure at a coaching level, which is obviously tied to recruitment and retention, (there is some issues there) but this drivel is totally irrelevant to that.

Anyone think Matt Moylan will end up somewhere else? I thought by this stage of his career he'd be some kind of Lockyer-esque 5/8th. Amazing how much he's gone off the boil.

Did just read he apparently played his last two games with a grade 2 hammy tear which might have something to do with it.

  6. Cribbage RG Cribb

Moylan just seems to be permanently injured. Pretty sure he was born with a torn hammy.

None of that is contrary to what I said, there’s no doubt Brisbane have the most number of player debutants because of their access to the largest junior base. My argument is that they’re making shit decisions on retention around that and failing to build a core group of players who are loyal to the club. That has a massive impact on culture.

Given every advantage Brisbane have over every other club in the NRL it’s almost impossible for them not to be consistently positioned in the 8. I don’t think this is a direct link to any sort of competence at that club. Three top 4 finishes in the past 10 years is actually incredible when you weigh up every advantage that club has.

Griffin to replace McGregor at St Merge.

  9. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

Not a horrible choice. He was doing well at Penrith.

  10. Cribbage RG Cribb

    Yes it is.

He kind of wasn't. They weren't horribly placed on the ladder but it was clearly a gun squad coached poorly. They'd often be totally out of games until they knew they had to play catch-up footy, then turn it on and miraculously win. This is great when it happens a couple of times but when it happens as regularly as it did it clearly points to a talented squad being mostly under-utilised, IMO.

You just like him because he hates the Allstars game.

  11. Tartmaster AJ James

I don’t understand how Griffin keeps getting hired.

  12. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

Well I did hate him at Brisbane.

  13. morgieb MC Burridge

Tarago -> Wests apparently c'd now.

For $550k it's great value. lol @ playing him at fullback though.

  14. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

Give him half a pre-season there, move him back to the wing for the last trial.

  15. Magic AJ Parker

Yeh I kind of wonder if you're the Tigers and you're rebuilding you don't just factor in entertaining Addo-Carr's desire to be a fullback for a dozen games as part of the cost of signing him knowing you'll come out of it with one of the best wingers in the game.

I mean he's not going to be completely terrible and I don't think he'd be that much of a downgrade on Doueihi or Mbye. You'd just get a very strong running fullback who'd probably be a safe defender.

Then once you're in a position to recruit or promote a better fullback option you go ahead and shift him onto a wing.

Don't disagree with you there magic, maybe not for a dozen games, but definitely give him a crack if that's what it takes.

I think they're mad not to be sticking mbye at 1, given they won't be able to offload him, they've got Brooks at halfback and even more so when they may well have Reynolds in 6.

He at least links up and can shuffle a ball on to the likes of Leilua, Nofo and addo carr. Having mbye playing outside of Addo Carr is completely backwards to me. A spine of:
    7. Brooks
    6.Reynolds
    1. Addo carr

Gives me the feeling that they're outside backs will get about 3 scoots each per game.

  17. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

Add Liddle at 9 and you have a top 8 NSW cup spine.

AFB wants out of Sydney. Broncos should be offering Manly Lodge, Milford or Bird as a swap.

Broncos said they can’t afford him and ruled themselves out. Sounds like he might go to the Warriors.

12 months ago I thought Manly were showing all the signs of being a top 4 side for the next few years. After this season and on the back of losing Fonua-Blake I can’t see them even making the 8 next season.
