So last weekend in the A reserve GF a huge fight broke out in the last minute of the game. Everyone started going at it and got close to the crowd and police had to come in and break it up. Anyway so I was watching it go down and I see these two guys staring at each other and all of a sudden one of them does this massive karate kick straight to the other guys head. It was unbelievable I literally screamed out "holy shit". Then on the other side of the field one guy was in the brace position on the floor while the opposition player was going full ground and pound UFC style with punches left and right to the head. 8 players for sent off. There was an article about it today in the Tele. Those two guys got 2 year suspensions each and the others got between 5 weeks to 1 year bans.
So they need new players then, that is a mental fight, been involved a few full team brawls but nothing like that
Here's one for you GYR Does that mean that all the players who dive outside the field over the dead ball line in an attempt to get the ball back into the in goal are actually knocking on. Haha no it all comes back to the ball being 'in the field of play' which is anything from dead ball line to dead ball line. That's why the rule says "towards opponents dead ball line". Since the ball hasn't hit the line and is still in play it technically hasn't passed the dead ball line yet as if it did then the ball would be out of play and therefore the play couldn't continue. It definitely could be more clear than it is in the rule book.
For one of the shittest teams throughout the season who arguably played the most boring style, we definitely produced some randomly spectacular tries. That's just insane from Naiqama.
Another season approaches and one step closer to fixing the NRL. This weekend is round 1 and it's a whole new ball game. I'll be doing much older kids this year, mostly 11's and 12's with 12's being full field 13 a side. There's a lot of competition in comparison to last year since there are a lot more refs hovering around those age groups but hopefully by the end of the year I'll be doing internationals (13yo+). Got brand new gear this week and ready to get cracking. Stay tuned people, the dream is still alive!
I got put on 5 games this morning. 4 hours of non stop running I'm so fucking exhausted. I did 9's, 10's and 11's. Mods are so much better. Especially the 11's, the quality of the game was great. Also, why are La Perouse no matter what age group always a bunch of fucking grubs. Well I know why but seriously, these kids are feral.
Very exciting day today. I made my A grade debut on the touch line. It was at Redfern oval and I was hoping Nathan Merritt would play but he dogged it. Dean widders was there though. Good experience and good quality rugby league. Copped a bit from some of the bruddahs but was good fun. One step closer boys and girls
So I'm officially on the NRL's radar now. Tony archer was at the ground I refereed at today (albeit for a different reason) and he sat down and watched an entire match of mine and came to talk to me afterwards so the man that matters knows who I am now. It's only a matter of time now people!
